I'm thinking of using Sun-In on my four year old's hair

The roots currently bear no relation to the ends and I'm thinking of spraying a bit of sun in into it

Am I being unreasonable?

It's bleach isn't it?

PerryCombover · 06/08/2011 16:19

it's a bit bleachy

It's bleach.

Mitmoo · 06/08/2011 16:22

You could damage her hair. Why would you want to dye a 4 year olds hair?

PhishFoodAddiction · 06/08/2011 16:22

I wouldn't use it because it might frazzle the hair.

My DD2 (just gone 3) has a full on full on mullet, sadly there's nothing I can put on it to make the sides grow Grin.

spiderpig8 · 06/08/2011 16:22

If you really must colour your 4 yos hair, then do it properly.Don't use sun in! It looks brassy and horrid

BehindLockNumberNine · 06/08/2011 16:24

If the roots bear no relation to the ends than that is because she is growing out the blond baby hair and developing darker hair. So unless you want to use sun-in or hair dye forever, just let nature take its course and embrace a darker haired dd.

southmum · 06/08/2011 16:25

nah go for it OP

Nowt wrong with instilling the idea that you must be perfect from such a young age. Maybe get her on a diet aswell while you're at it Hmm

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 06/08/2011 16:25

Why is it a problem if the ends are a different colour? She's 4 FGS. Leave her be.

GingerWrath · 06/08/2011 16:28

Use lemon juice instead if you must do it.

DogsBestFriend · 06/08/2011 16:29

Don't use Sun-In.

Use peroxide. She's only 4, it won't matter, she'll look delightful.

PerryCombover · 06/08/2011 16:29

She isn't tubby so a diet isn't called for just yet

But she'd look so much cuter if she was blonde

OP posts:
worraliberty · 06/08/2011 16:29

Don't think you can buy it anymore can you?

PerryCombover · 06/08/2011 16:29

lemon juice won't work as there isn't that much sun here

OP posts:
PerryCombover · 06/08/2011 16:31

What about highlights?

OP posts:
southmum · 06/08/2011 16:31

this is a joke yes?

OP you sound as shallow as a petri dish

oldmum42 · 06/08/2011 16:31

I assume you want to even out the tone, but it's normal for hair to lighten with age/sun exposure.

Sun-in is chemical bleach, I would not put it on a child, especially one too young to understand what might happen is it got rubbed in the eyes.

If you want to even it out a little in a safer, more natural way, put some fresh lemon juice on it for a few mins at bath time, weekly if you want. For a stronger effect, lemon juice rubbed into hair then exposed to the sun for 20 mins....

But really, at that age, why bother?

Mitmoo · 06/08/2011 16:31

*She isn't tubby so a diet isn't called for just yet

Yes of course dear.
Hmm

caffevalium · 06/08/2011 16:32

Get her some botox while you're at it. I expect all that whingeing wanting blonder hair has given her the most frightful wrinkles.

timidviper · 06/08/2011 16:33

DS wanted to try it when he was about 14 and it turned his hair distinctly gingery.

Don't use it unless a ginger child would fit in with your cuteness criteria OP Hmm

LaLaLoopsie · 06/08/2011 16:33

I think you're a bit mad to even be thinking of going this, to be honest. No one would notice about the colour of your daughter's hair. Unless your name is Gwen Stefani.

DogsBestFriend · 06/08/2011 16:33

Not much sun? That's okay, use a sunbed to get her a nice mahogany glow. You'll probably find a tanning salon next door to the hairdresser that does peroxide dyes.

HairyBeaver · 06/08/2011 16:34

Sweetie, blonde is sooo last season, copper auburn is the fashion now!!

DogsBestFriend · 06/08/2011 16:35

A ginger child fits into my cute criteria!

PerryCombover · 06/08/2011 16:37

she's not fussed by her hair colour
i'd like her to stay blonde..she looks way cuter like that

i don't know what a petri dish is? I just want my daughter to look more loveable
what's wrong with that?
