I'm thinking of using Sun-In on my four year old's hair

The roots currently bear no relation to the ends and I'm thinking of spraying a bit of sun in into it

Am I being unreasonable?

For fear of being eaten alive...I will admit it....I sun in DS. Shock

It looks very natural. His hair hasn't frazzles, or his eyes fallen out.

He asks; "can I have some blondie spray?" Because he wants to be blond. And I'll spray a bit on every couple of weeks.

I only do it in the summer when his hair is surfer dude style, and he spends a lot of time out side. At the beginning of September, he'll have the back and sides cut, and we won't use sun in. I doesn't wreck his hair, but then he loves to pile lots of my expensive condition on.

But tbh, I don't think it will work so well on the roots. But then DS has had dark roots since he was born. Confused

And no, he doesn't want a spray tan, so he tells me.

He is very proud of his six pack, though.

It's only his hair, for heavens sake. And yes, I'm, the mother who fusses if the DC drink non organic milk, or consume aspartame.

My gran died of cancer a few years ago.

FreudianSlipper · 06/08/2011 22:22

of course you are

ds has reddish blond hair, he has a very very blond patch at the back that is a very different colour to the front of his hair i doubt he is that bothered

Yes - YABU. It can cause damage to the hair and scalp. At least wait until a child is old enough to ask and understand and after you get over the idea that her appearance is what makes her loveable.

My mother started using sun-in at when I was 3/4, for the reason you are giving (though I've never had blonde hair, I was born with dark hair, she thought I would cuter and more likeable as a blonde). My hair was dyed with proper dye around the time I started school.

It did not make me more loveable - in fact I was horribly bullied for having coloured hair throughout my time at school. And I've ended up with extremely damaged hair and scalp (why my mother didn't stop when I started getting painful lumps on my scalp, I'll never know).

Now, I'm the complete opposite of what she wanted in that regard (I have very long hair in my natural colour that no outside my husband and kids see as I always wear cloth headcoverings). I am - and everyone else - just as loveable no matter what's going on on top of my head.

Sun in is nothing like proper dye...it's literally 2 squirts.

I "proper" dye my hair and believe me, it's a huge hassle, and something I wouldn't wish on any child.

It was awful.

But it was funnier than this thread.

Thank you.

Years ago I watched a daytime TV show a bout a woman who met a soldier one summer...they fell in lust love and got married really quickly. He was then posted somewhere or other and come back a few months later....buy which time he had dark hair, instead of blonde Hmm......turned out he had been using sun in. Shock Needless to say the relationship broke down and they divorced shortly afterward.

LynetteScavo · 07/08/2011 00:13

by, not buy, obviously.

Tonight, I put sun - in on my cats, and they are now a beautiful shade of turquoise, which matches the new diamante studded collars and the cute booties I bought for them perfectly. Frankly, you are ALL unreasonable if you don't use sun - in on all of your family, and I am thinking of calling SS to complain about your neglect if you haven't.
