...to have scoffed almost half a pot of Ben & Jerry's in five minutes?

I brought it out to soften up a bit. Then DD woke up with teething pain, so I went up to nurse her, completely forgetting about the ice cream sitting on the cupboard on a warm night. Came back downstairs and gobbled the lot.

Well...it would have been such a waste otherwise, wouldn't it? Lord knows it costs enough, and food waste is such a crime. So I did it for moral reasons.

Yup. The consequences will stay with me for a lifetime. Sigh.

Honestly, I think you are actually quite slow.

By the way, Asda (work of the devil, but near where I work) sells it on offer for £2 every now and again. Makes it a lesser crime, somehow.

SpeedyGonzalez · 03/08/2011 23:28

Grin Perhaps I should have sucked it through a straw?

Btw my 'ethics' extend to my avoiding the EvilAsda like the plague. Besides which, if I was buying it for £2 a pop I'd be the size of a house. Anyway Waitrose is doing them for £6 for two at the moment, which is just as deadly, if not worse as you can't get away with just buying one.

Go girl, go girl, go girl.

Ben & Jerry's is not disigned to be eaten in small portions.

There is a law some where, or a commandment, Thou should never throw good food away (some fruit and veg excluded).

Thou should also get pleasure from where you can when you have a teething child.

sundayrose10 · 03/08/2011 23:31

Hope you're happy with the extra half stone on your hips/thighs.

Don't worry about it...life is about 'treats once in a while'.

A1980 · 03/08/2011 23:31

It's half price in sainsbury's at the moment.

They broguht out Fossil Fuel again but they've changed it. It used to have chocolate dinosaurs in it, now it has chocolate peace signs Confused

I scoffed a similar amount this evening.

FlubbaBubba · 03/08/2011 23:32

YANBU

In fact, I think you'll find by purchasing a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, you are Contractually Obliged to eat it in one go. Can't be sure of this for all flavours, but this is Definitely True for Phish Food :)

A1980 · 03/08/2011 23:34

Hope you're happy with the extra half stone on your hips/thighs.

Half a pot of Ben and Jerry's is a hefty amount of calories. But it takes 3500 calories to put on a pound of fat. In order to out on 7lbs of fat, the OP would need to consume about 24500 extra calories. ben & jerrys isn't that calorific.

SpeedyGonzalez · 03/08/2011 23:34

Budgie - you are right about portion sizes. It should just be inhaled en masse.

Oooh, FossilFuel...mmmmm!

I had Caramel Chew Chew - so it was Fairtrade! I am almost knocking myself out with my uber-morality! (Pedants: please imagine umlaut)

So you see? I have actually been helping people in developing countries tonight! Grin

Just been to freezer to get some ice cream, Ahhhhhhh we have none in.

What do I do now pot noodle, toast or go to tesco in my nighty?

ImperialBlether · 03/08/2011 23:40

The thing about Ben and Jerry's is that when you are eating it, you are not eating anything else.

So really, it should ADD to weight loss.

(And yes, everyone knows if you eat one a day, you're in trouble, but if you eat one a week or a month, you're not. FFS.)

SpeedyGonzalez · 03/08/2011 23:41

I'm just kidding about the calories. I certainly consume way more than that on a regular day.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 03/08/2011 23:43

Morrisons are doing it for £2 atm.

I bought 2 pots last Friday, me and DH scoffed both of them by Monday Blush

Jonnyfan · 03/08/2011 23:47

It was Caramel Chew Chew?????????????

Why was there half a pot???????????????
Why was it not all consumed when it was opened????
Why?????????????

budgieshell · 03/08/2011 23:49

Panic over found some little oranges at the back of the fridge.

How you managing with the teething Speedy. I walked a lot of miles when my dd's where teething. It's no fun and lots of ice cream should be on hand at all times.

SpeedyGonzalez · 03/08/2011 23:49

You know, sundayrose, every time I see your name I see Nicole Kidman, so I am seriously struggling to imagine you overeating! Grin

Jonny - hmm. You are right. Clearly I am being Bloody U. Tsk. Grin

SpeedyGonzalez · 03/08/2011 23:56

Hurray for budgie! But hang on - are you talking about actual fruit, or fruit-flavoured sugary stuff? I do hope it's the latter, I'd be most disappointed if you were eating healthily.

We have Cherry Garcia and Choc Fudge Brownie in the freezer at the mo - thanks to bloody Waitrose trying to make me fat.

OMG is there a B&J's flavour that is not orgasmic?

Jonnyfan · 03/08/2011 23:58

WE're friends, aren't we Speedy, so can I come round???????????
Now?????????????

notlettingthefearshow · 04/08/2011 00:03

Yum! I'm a sucker for ice cream too and once it's out of the freezer, it rarely goes back in!

budgieshell · 04/08/2011 00:06

Yes it's fruit, clementines to be exact.

I know I'm letting the side down (hangs head in shame). In my defence I am eating them with a glass of wine (don't try this at home, bad combination).

I make a promise to buy ice cream tomorrow and remember the fruit is for the kids.

SpeedyGonzalez · 04/08/2011 00:20

Jonny - are we friends?! I didn't know that! Do PM me and tell me who you are in RL! (oh, and the answer is no )

budgie - too right, keep that nasty fruit stuff right out of your mouth.

BahHumPug · 04/08/2011 00:38

YABU - Caramel Chew Chew is rank.

It goes like this, in ascending order of loveliness:

  • Half Baked
  • Phish Food
  • Cookie Dough
  • Baked Alaska

Remember that for next time, please.
