do you suffer from nipple and facial hair........ipl hair removal????

have you ever had it? i have always suffered at the hand of the extra hair, you know the ones if you know my pain. the nipple hairs that must be plucked the line of hair from tummy to pubes, the tash that gets bleached etc. but of late last year or so i have discovered the joy of the dark chin hair at first just one or two now the blonde hair there is getting longer and turning dark and there is too much to pluck. soooo i am considering ipl and am wondering if any of you ladies or gents would mind sharing your tales with me, does it work etc???

no nipple hair thank god, but I am VERY hairy :( I have PCOS and it really makes things embarrassing. Hope you get some responses as I have also been thinking of having it done

i have never been tested for pcos but my mum has it and the hair problem so maybe i do too or its just genetic. you are lucky about the boob hair its terrible when you are just about to get all romantic and you realise you missed one

Have PCOS and had IPL about 10 years ago. It did work, but be very careful. I ended up with dark patches for about 6 years afterwards. I'm having it again later this year and am choosing where far more carefully. It's not worth going on the cheap if it's on your face. Be careful and best of luck.

and yes it works up to a point. You have hundreds of possible follies under the skin, so can have new growth esp if you have a hormonal condition

Boots sell some form of ipl machine to be used at home. I saw a review on the beauty scribbler blog and she really rated it. I'm getting a few face hairs, always in the same place. I just tweezer.

I have lazer treatment with a doctor... don't know what kind of lazer it is, sorry I think its excellent. I used to go every six weeks for a year, now I just go when I feel like it. I had horrible folliculitis that used to get all infected and thats gone completely. Its not cheap but not looking like a hairy leper is priceless. Go for a consultation... see what the Dr says.

honestly they are monsterous :)

My friend even said to me the other day that I need to sort my ''admin'' out as the kids I look after are closer to my feet and I could scare them lol

maybe because some people do not post on the supposed "appropriate" place because like myself have never been on that part of the site i have pretty much limited my use of mn to aibu because i enjoy coming on here and not the rest of mn.
i've often wondered why it bothers you or other so much. i made a very veiled attempt at making it a aibu failed badly obviously other people are responding happily enough whats the problem?

hairy toes are scary???? shoot those poor hobits should have just pointed their toes at the bad dudes. i too suffer from the hairy big toe and would consider getting this done as fed up of shaving them lol.

It doesn't 'bother' me - I just wondered why. And now I'm wondering why you just restrict yourself to AIBU! There's so much more to MN than AIBU.

There's no 'problem'. It's just odd when there are (almost literally) a million and one, specific places to post a thread like this.

spooks and blurry have you tried using a small wax strip on your hairy toe? I'm fessing up too many hairy secrets now...

I find it lasts ages and its such a small area it doesn't require any skill or bravery to wax it.

I am also of the hairy persuasion, so i advise you all to learn how to thread Here . I can now tackle my lip, chin, boob and toe hair in the privacy of my own home!

I am currently having laser hair removal on my underarms and bikini line, but i have only had one session, and really haven't noticed any reduction in hair growth yet, hopefully after a few more sessions i will stop looking like a hairy mammoth. Has anyone had that? How many sessions does it usually take?

I did go to the doctors and get tested for PCOS, however all the tests were negative. I think it's related to me stopping taking the pill and my hormones going all masculine in response.

How dark is your hair galaxy ? I found a big difference from the first session really.. (gawd, now admitting hairy & dark hair :( )

I think six is the standard to see it almost completely gone. Like I say, dark and tufty hair seems to drop out the quickest. Are you getting it done by a Dr? They are allowed to use more powerful lazers than beauty therapists so I guess thats better. I think its marvellous but then I had skin problems as well as just sick of being hairy.

I had IPL on my nipple hair about a year and a half ago. After 6 sessions it looked a little better but it's all back to the way it was now.

I'm not sure if they didn't have the power on high enough at first, but it wasn't till the last session that I felt anything when they did it and friends who've had it done said they felt a stinging from the first time. I'd really think hard before spending all that money again.

I have heard great results from other people though, I reckon you just have to be sure to go to a place with a good reputation. I'd also wait until a Groupon voucher for it came up if that's available in your area, it's so dear otherwise.

I bought the boots thing. It easy to use but I am not sure how successful it will be yet. I used it under my arms the other day about 24 hours before I was going out in a sleeveless dress. I find if I use it then shave 24 hours later I have very smooth under arms. Probably because it's zapped any new growth. I have really noticed less hair though and I have used it around 6 times.

My body hair is a medium brown colour and my skin is milk bottle white so i thought i'd be a pretty good candidate. I think the operator was erring on the side of caution with a low setting, i didn't feel anything at all on my underarms and only a tiny pin prick on my bikini line. Did you feel pain when you had yours done? How long ago did you have it done and have any hairs re-grown since then?

I think my operator is a doctor, it's a clinic that specialises in laser hair removal and other womens issues (they do vaginoplasties there too)

I have six sessions (thank you Groupon!) so hopefully i will gradually become hairless before the last one.

I have a theory that if i had an underarm and bikini wax two weeks before the laser hair removal session, then the hairs might be in the 'growing' stage and this would make them easier to kill, but this is just a theory i have thought up in my head, i'm not sure how it would work in practice. Does anyone have any suggestions about that?
