Is it all a race to the finish?

Lottora · 02/08/2011 15:14

I worked for around twenty years to get where I am. Few people could say the same. I read mumsnet and see people complaining, yet I never have a complain.

I seem to have a pretty normal life. From the time I wake up, to the time I take my afternoon nap, I'm focussed on my task.

If it's a race to the finish, and the winner gets what, then why are you still here?

yet I never have a complain

And yet here you are, visibly whinging that people aren't more like you.

OP's boss - what job does she do?

AgentZigzag · 02/08/2011 15:37

'then why are you still here?'

So am I meant to be on MN or not? Confused

AuntieMonica · 02/08/2011 15:38

the 'finish' to me is death, so i'll gladly take my time if it's all the same to you

Ormirian · 02/08/2011 15:39

"I worked for around twenty years to get where I am. Few people could say the same."

Yes they could.

PS I only picked up on this bit because I understood it. The rest was a bit Grasshopper for me.

ThatllDoPig · 02/08/2011 15:40

I'm confused. complaining about people complaining?

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/08/2011 15:42

Someone is definitely channelling MN's resident wino Gabbyloggon...

TalcAndTurnips · 02/08/2011 15:43

Anybody fancy a pint?

jeanvaljean · 02/08/2011 15:45

I would have put good money on this being a gabbyloggon post.

ShirleyKnot · 02/08/2011 15:45

I would LOVE a pint Talc. I was having a lovely lovely cold beer at lunchtime everyday last week (I was on holiday though) and now I'm all back at work and not sitting in a taverna.

AuntieMonica · 02/08/2011 15:45

me. Talc

i'd bloody well love one right now, just had an hour's worth of bus journeys and passed a cracking pub with a garden full of smug bastards drinking cold beers whilst pointing and laughing at me customers

whattodoo · 02/08/2011 15:47

Ooh, a lovely pint of ice cold cider.

Followed by an afternoon nap.

TalcAndTurnips · 02/08/2011 15:48

Righto then

See you all down the Whig and Pistle

CogitoErgoSometimes · 02/08/2011 15:49

You have to be focussed on that task right up to that afternoon nap whattadoo. In the OP's case, that's probably a word search. Remind me, what's an afternoon nap?

ShirleyKnot · 02/08/2011 15:50

Good day Sir!

GrimmaTheNome · 02/08/2011 15:52

Yes, someone channelling Gabby. Think he's older though, would have clocked up more than a mere 20 years (I've just completed my quarter century, waiting for a mystery parcel from my company!! They sent me a nano for my 20th, hope the OP wins something nice too Grin)

whattodoo · 02/08/2011 15:57

I get what you're saying cogitoergosometimes.

However, some people find cider actually helps them focus on their task.

I suspect the OP is one of these people.

nickelbabe · 02/08/2011 16:00
Grin

Shirley - i love you too.
it's collar, so you were right in the first place.

ShirleyKnot · 02/08/2011 16:33

collar looks weird (and I'm not even drunk)

nickelbabe · 02/08/2011 16:44

that's because you're used to plunging cleavage necklines

TalcAndTurnips · 02/08/2011 17:14

I prefer a stiff one, myself.

(collar that is)
