Don't they know that most people, certainly in an organisation staffed by competent and intelligent adults, can actually READ? And that being the case either they should send an email to everyone or actually Make A Presentation - ie use their imaginations and language skills to TALK to people?

There is no point - it's just someone publicly proving that they can't plan a presentation or use the software.

Oh god, death by powerpoint! How many of those have I been subjected to! I was quite amazed at how dull the subject of sexuality could be made, by this method.

When they are really bad I swear I can feel myself dying of boredom. By degrees! Or it may be cramp. But whatever it is it's outrageous to subject a captive audience to it! On a Friday afternoon as well.

Ha. Powerpoint is not the problem here - I used to have a lecturer who did the same but with OHP slides. He would photocopy them, so we had a paper copy in front of us, and then read out the slides of the OHP projector.

Very very boring. It's not like he would take questions in the middle of it either.

If you Google the words "powerpoint is evil" including the quotes the first hit you make will tell you all you need to know about Powerpoint, the writers of which should be skinned alive then rolled in salt; after which we can start getting really cruel with them although not as cruel as they deserve.

Powerpoint in a darkened auditorium is the finest cure for insomnia known to man. Ideally the presenter must have a monotone voice, read from notes with their head down, and be unfamiliar with the subject which they are presenting. They must have also requested that all questions should be held until the end of the session. :(
