To think that there is no acceptable reason for a grown-up to get their face painted at the zoo unless it is for charity!

I am getting increasingly disturbed by the number of adults I see at the zoo with their faces painted - usually tigers or cheaters.
Yesterday took my kids and spotted 3 including the oddest which was a woman with a tiger face obviously on a date with her boyfriend and no children.
Now I consider myself a jolly enough person up for a laugh but this is something I just don't get!

I agree OP no excuse for it. Cringeworthy "arent I fun and craazzzeee". We were at Peppapig world and there was a mortifying ride for toddlers that involved being rotated round slowly on small bouncing dinosaurs embarrassing enough when with a small child but great for the underfives. The lady in front of me was queueing up on her own then solemnly got onto one of these and boinged off.

Why is face painting 'fun'? Why is thinking someone loos a bit of a sap 'miserable' and 'joyless'?

I have a clown issue, face painting gives me the heebiejeebies, even on kids. In fact especially on kids, hordes of little humanoid tigers and butterflies would have me fleeing for safety. I'm not looking forward to my baby reaching that stage.

YABU stop being a wet blanket. who r u to judge wat other ppl shd b doing for fun

Panzee · 29/07/2011 15:22

I would find it a bit odd, there's a lot of "look at how wacky I am" to it.

DorothyGherkins · 29/07/2011 15:24

It never occurred to me that I could get my face painted as an adult. What a fabulous idea. Shall I get the butterfly, or the ladybird or the ubiquitous tiger. God that would frighten the cashier lady in Waitrose, wouldnt it.

I'm going to opt for a bodenesque hotch potch design on my cheeks with maybe the MN logo on my forehead.

I love a good ole face paint, I think more people should do it on a day to day basis.
