To think that there is no acceptable reason for a grown-up to get their face painted at the zoo unless it is for charity!

I am getting increasingly disturbed by the number of adults I see at the zoo with their faces painted - usually tigers or cheaters.
Yesterday took my kids and spotted 3 including the oddest which was a woman with a tiger face obviously on a date with her boyfriend and no children.
Now I consider myself a jolly enough person up for a laugh but this is something I just don't get!

I was also at the zoo yesterday and was really tempted to get a tiger face painted, me and SiL spent quite a while admiring all the different designs on the board! Had no idea I would have actually been judged for this [tiger]

worraliberty · 29/07/2011 10:21

Anyway, how do you know it was face paint and not escaped animals dressed in human's clothes?

Macaroona · 29/07/2011 10:22

I did however judge the mum of 3 I saw who had massively high heels on - for a day stomping round the zoo?!

sallysquirrel · 29/07/2011 10:23

So if David Cameron was visiting the zoo to discuss conservation or something similar and couldn't resist the temptation to get his face painted you lot would just think - isn't he a laugh, still got his inner child, bless him Hmm

each to their own
don't worry about it!

lesley33 · 29/07/2011 10:28

She either enjoys this as a bit of fun.

Or she has a learning difficulty. My neighbours have an adult daughter who mentally is still a child. She doesn't look disabled. Should they not let her do things that she enjoys so she doesn't upset strangers? She has a boyfriend - also with a learning difficulty and is able to go to places that are easy to negotiate herself e.g. zoo yes, nightclub no.

ImeldaM · 29/07/2011 10:28

Would assume it is just "for a laugh" and that those with their faces painted are likely to be on a fun day out rather than "visiting the zoo to discuss conservation" where I think it would be less appropriate.

ImeldaM · 29/07/2011 10:29

worraliberty Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 29/07/2011 10:29

Oh don't be so silly. It's a funny thing but a work setting, which your 'example' is, is a little different to an adult out with family to a theme park.

You sound like a right bloody misery.

AnansiGirl · 29/07/2011 10:30

I feel that there is no reason for adult females to walk around with inches of slap on their faces. But it makes them happy and does no harm, so I leave the water pistol at home.
You don't sound a jolly person at all.

What does a cheater-face look like? Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 29/07/2011 10:32

I don't think there's anything wrong with tiger face paint but if someone is painted up to look like a cheater then that's bad.

worraliberty · 29/07/2011 10:32

Yes spot on!

That's exactly what I'd think...well that and the fact he was doing it for publicity Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 29/07/2011 10:33

I doubt that he would, OP. I personally wouldn't think less of him if he did have his face painted at a Zoo with his chilren but I'd think a more normal visage would be appropriate were he 'working'.

Now shoo... go sprinkle your happy dust far and wide.... Grin

DooinMeCleanin · 29/07/2011 10:34

Disturbed? Really?

You need to get out more, my love.

Hmm
ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/07/2011 10:35

Please can you tell me more about the cheaters - normally I find they have many different appearances, if we could narrow it down to being one definitive 'look' it would certainly make my poker nights less easy to spoil.

Wink

Unless I'm missing the point and you're talking about benefit cheaters.

TrillianAstra · 29/07/2011 10:36

If Cameron went to the zoo to discuss conservation then he would be doing a job and should dress appropriately.

If he went on a day out with his children then why shouldn't he get his face painted?

Are you actually just pissed off because there was a long queue for the face painting? OR did your DCs ask you to get your face painted with them and you refused?

Great Cameron argument, btw.

Rosemallow · 29/07/2011 10:38

Grin worraliberty and 'cheater' faces

Am actually laughing out loud at this thread (reminds me of that Phoenix nights episode)
Tried to get DP to get his face painted (we have children, so presumably that's in the realms of ok) but he declined due to judgey people like you

LadyThumb · 29/07/2011 10:39

lockets - you said what I was too afraid to say. I'd just love to know what a 'cheaters' face looks like!

Ormirian · 29/07/2011 10:39

If my DC asked me to I would

Kladdkaka · 29/07/2011 10:39

Some people put on a show of disgust/outrage/judgement/other negative reaction at stuff like this but the reality is that they are jealous. Not necessarily jealous of not having their face painted, but jealous of the fact that someone else is happier or having more fun than they are.
