To be angry that my mums birthday flowers were not delivered until 7.45pm!

I ordered flowers from Next for my mum's 70th Birthday. They looked lovely online (Serene large) sorry cant do a link.

Anyway I phoned at 5pm to say they hadnt arrived, they said delivery is up until 7pm, I thought that was a bit late, I've never known flowers to be delivered that late but waited till 7pm and phoned back.

Apparently customer services for flowers closes at 7pm, so they will phone me back between 9 and 1 tomorrow.

Anyway they finally came at 7.45pm and I'm so angry, the description says

A stunning, large mix of lilac and cream blooms including Ocean Song roses, Oriental lilies, Cream Everlasting spray roses and scented lavender. This bouquet is hand arranged in a clear, green vase and finished with a pretty ribbon to make an ideal gift for any occasion.

They came in a cardboard box, flowers and vase separate, the roses are curling and starting to go brown, the lilies are closed and I think by the time they open the roses will be dead

I buy my mum flowers every year and wanted something really special this time. All the family were there to see her between 4 and 6 and she had no flowers, she thought I hadnt bothered this year

If I had known they would be this late and in a box I would have went elsewhere. I'm angry that she didnt get that lovely feeling you get when you open the door to see someone standing there with a lovely bouquet, that she got them so late, the state of them and the fact that she thought I hadnt bothered this year.

I will never, ever order flowers from Next again!

I've had flowers from next before and they have been lovely. I don't see the problem with them turning up in a box, and if they say that 7 is their latest deliver time, then there's not much you can do.

The fact that they turned up 45 minutes later than their latest time stated, and the fact that the flowers are dying is definatly worth complaining about. It's also a bit odd that the flowers were separate to the the vase.

You have cause to complain - do your best and your Mum might get something lovely as a sorry.

Oh, that is crap. If they'd arrived in good condition I'd say you were being a bit precious but clearly they've been out of water all day (and more?) and that's what's done the damage. Take a picture of the browning bits and complain!

Bubbles - The box doesnt bother me as such it's the fact that they were advertised as being in the vase. My mum has arthritis and I thought the fact she wouldnt have to bother faffing around arranging them would be easier for her.

I cant find anywhere on the website that says they deliver them till 7pm otherwise I would have went to a florist to make sure they arrived earlier

LRD - They were in a sort of bag of water, but the roses are terrible

I think I just had visions of her being presented with a lovely display that all she had to do would be take any wrapping off and put them a table.

I had flowers sent to me by Next before and the service was terrible.

They were not delivered on the date requested, but three days later and as no one was in when they were delivered they were thrown over the side gate. The roses were brown and the rest of the flowers were very wilted.

My friends who sent then to me complained and eventually got their money back.

Poor service imo make a formal complaint tom

I used to send flowers from next, as they were lovely but stopped as the last ones I sent to mil were half dead.

And I sent some to my mother that they delivered a day early and just left in the middle of the drive way in blazing sunshine. I had made extra for the specific delivery date and their customer service failed to see the issue as they had delivered on time. The fact that no one was there to revive them till the next say was irrelevant ....they also said they didn't need to be signed for so we were lucky they had been left or we could have been charged for redelivery

Sounds really shoddy.

I used to use Interflora or Tesco and they werent bad. But now I find the best way of getting what you want is to phone the florist nearest to your recipient and tell them how much you want to spend, what type of arrangement you want, and they will tell you what they have in, or suggest a nice colour combination. My mum has been very happy with her bouquets from her local florist, and I feel at least like I am supporting a local business who get 100% of the money and know what they're doing with flowers!
