To not want PILs to know how much we are paying for our house?

Buying a new house, paying close to asking, we believe it is a good price. For some bizarre reason though I won't revel to PILs the exact price (they have seen the leaflet so they know the asking) I just feel they a) Know too much about finances e.g. our exact salaries and b) Would give us grief about being too close to asking price...

I've not problem telling friends etc, if they ask.A minor thing I know, but just wondered if I am BU/odd.

They can look it up on the Land Registry. If you think you're paying a good price, then nothing to feel defensive about?

YABU for the reasons mentioned above. 'Upmystreet' shows prices paid for properties. Tell them what you paid for the house but, from now on, you and your husband should decide to keep your personal finances personal.

Yanbu. It drives me mad when parents assume they are allowed to know everything about their grown up children's lives. My dh is always telling his parents things about us that I would prefer to keep private.

You cant keep secrets these days. They can find how much you have paid on various websites (after 3 months i think)

It does feel odd that every information is on the internet.

I know they could find out - but I don't think they actually would as they don't know about such sites as house prices.co.uk. I'm just don't want to tell them - it's the principle that we should we allowed some privacy about such things I think.

Why should you tell them? Presumably you are not going to tell me, so why should you tell them?
