I agree. But then I hate the beginning of Thelma and Louise, and the middle bit as well.

Good film - I watched it a few nights ago. Is it based on a true story? I liked the reference to the snowball effect.

I also liked the line:

"Are you sweet to your wife? Because my husband wasn't sweet to me and look how I turned out!".

I wasn't keen on the ending either but as Punk said, it was the only possibly conclusion really. The alternative would have been life in prison/electric chair or forever on the run. They would never have got away with all that.
