He is coming by to collect a letter addressed to him. I am so busy netting and fbooking writing an assignment and I don't want to have him come in and make small talk!!

He has been in a few months ago and I invited him in then. Can I just stand at the door this time and let him know I am busy?? Would that be rude???

Just hand over the letter at the door and tell him you are on your way out.

Good idea fabby

urgh! does that mean I have to dry my hair and look vaguely presentable?? I am in Study mode today.... undone hair, scruffy clothes, rabbit in the headlights look!

But yes, a good idea!

No, just go to the door as you are and hand over the letter.

Change the clothes to a dressing gown and pretend you're about to shower?

Numberfour · 17/07/2011 12:23

Problem solved! I stood in the doorway and did not step back for him to come in. We exchanged pleasantries and then he said that he was in a rush so had to leave!

another trick is to put your coat on when the door bell rings, you can then say you are off out if its bloody annoying idiots unwanted guests or if its people you are happy to see you can say you have just come in, win win

Love your idea of the coat, Helenthemadex!
