There's so much of it and the colour and curl - talk about crowning glory! Blush

OP posts:
edam · 15/07/2011 20:52

Mine's not the same colour but the same texture and curl. I veer between layers to keep it under control or going for full volume but fear that age + layers will soon be giving me what Alistron describes as the Vera Duckworth look.

alistron1 · 15/07/2011 20:55

"Perhaps she could do with some of that Moroccan hair oil....ponders!"

Tried it. Doesn't work.

Cheers for this thread. Now, when I'm out and about I will be wondering if people think that I've got a hedge for hair, should use frizz ease, get a proper hair cut, get a hair cut more suited to my age, look like Mick Hucknall (which is allegedly an insult) or use moroccan hair oil.

I can only imagine the thread that would ensue if she was a bit lardy and there were such comments about her size.

'We' can't help having 'wild woman of the woods' unkempt hair, and unless we spend hours every day taming/straightening it it will never look sleek and styled.

GreenEyesandHam · 15/07/2011 21:00

I think the colour is beautiful, exact same colour as my sisters. She was bullied mercilessly as a child, but envied now. It's lovely.

Thankfully, she never grew up to be a power hungry, no morals tosshead.

madonnawhore · 15/07/2011 21:01

I have very straight, thick hair but I adore curly hair. You always want what you don't have eh?

Rebekah Brooks is a cunt though. Yeah. I said it.

alistron1 · 15/07/2011 21:04

I'm not a Rebekah Brooks fan BTW, but I object to the anti-curly comments.

HalfTermHero · 15/07/2011 21:14

The hair is ok but is a bit like a cherry on top of a turd really......

ouryve · 15/07/2011 21:15

My sister has hair just like that. She dyes it a darker red and RB looks like she does the same.

You'd think the genetics would be strong but nope, I have dark, wiry just wavy enough to be annoying stuff that grows outwards rather than down. I keep it very very short.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 15/07/2011 22:12

Why is it an insult anyway for people to compare curly hair to a hedge? I have naturally curly hair, it goes into ringlets. I hate them. At the first hint of air moisture or a brush, they turn frizzy.

I use Morrocan oil, which is fab, and straighteners. It's a chore but it's either that or hedge-hair. Nobody's forcing anybody to tame unkempt locks but I personally think they look awful. How I envy women who have that heavy, dead-straight hair, like Dawn French.... Envy

thefirstMrsDeVere · 15/07/2011 22:15

Five mixed race kids

you want to talk about curly hair?

And do you think they have the decency to have the same sort of hair as each other. OH NO, not them. Each of the little darlings has come with their own type of curly hair.

Hmm

BTW That woman is fair game IMO. I wouldnt normally join in with an appearance based thread but I am bending the rules for her.

Tchootnika · 15/07/2011 22:57

It's what's inside her head that's the problem.

mathanxiety · 16/07/2011 06:40

Alistron, you are so right. I have hair like that too, in brown. So does DD3 but hers is red.

mathanxiety · 16/07/2011 06:43

And DD2's is blonde and v curly.

ifancyashandy · 16/07/2011 08:39

No anti curl feeling here - love curls. But her hair IS a mess and does need a decent cut. I have friends with similar hair types - and relatives too - and they ain't rocking the 'hedge'. My hair also goes the way of the 'fro when there is any moisture in the air (so, every day then!) if I don't whack product on it. No biggie / anti curl agenda!

Also agree that she looks hard faced and pinched but don't think she's 'power hungry'. She is (was!) good at tabloid journalism (but took it waaaaaaaay too far, obviously!) and got rewarded / promoted. Am not defending her actions at all!

BulletWithAName · 16/07/2011 09:20

Alistron- Just put it down to jealousy. I always do Wink

HerBeX · 16/07/2011 09:21

No YANBU.

It's possibly the only thing to love about her.

NolaDarling · 16/07/2011 09:57

I think a short straight red/brownish bob would look striking on her. The hair just does not match the rest of her. She looks lean/mean and her hair is all bouncy/girly - so comes off looking more like a man in a wig! Ultra feminine looking hair like hers looks great on someone a bit more plump and with flawless rosy skin. In my experience, the women with the most jaw-dropping hair (i.e., volume, texture, color) have been, coincidentally, women with more weight on them). That's excluding the model-types, who seem to have it all (physically).

Love the curls, hate the ginger-ness

Can't stand the woman anyway so what do I care Grin

amigababy · 16/07/2011 10:08

dh once said I looked like Leo Sayer

thefirstMrsDeVere · 16/07/2011 10:14

Haha @ amiga

RB looks just like the female detective on an American cop show I used to watch. Not Law and Order but after Hill St Blues.

She was all hard faced and suit wearing and had all this hair all over the place. It just annoyed me.

I KNOW NYPD BLUE (or something like that)

BulletWithAName · 16/07/2011 10:20

I spent a small fortune back in the early 90s trying to get those pre-Raphelite ringlets, with various trendy perms in uber trendy salons...they all looked like shit.

This is why I get annoyed when people ask me if my hair is a perm. All perms look like shite IMO.

edam · 16/07/2011 10:24

Amiga, an ex-boss of mine used to call me Brian May, the cheeky fecker. To be fair, everyone got teased in that newsroom - I think he got called Hitler because he only had one ball.

NolaDarling · 16/07/2011 11:14

E.g., the hair is better suited on this woman

CalamityKate · 16/07/2011 11:52

I've just looked at the pictures bringinghomethebacon linked to on page 2, and I can barely focus on RB's hair. I'm too preoccupied by her fingers. The woman has freakishly long fingers.

Seriously, look at the pictures and then tell me she hasn't got bizarre fingers.

I suppose they come in handy for raking through her hair.

encyclogirl · 16/07/2011 14:06

I am in the very unfortunate position of looking quite a lot like Rebecca Brooks. Everyone is pointing this out to me this week. Cheers everyone.

I am a shorter version. I wear my hair shorter, as I'm now 45, but it's essentially the same 'do'.

As someone else said it's hard to know what to do with hair like ours. It's got a life of it's own, and literally won't be tamed.

When I lived in London in the 80s my nickname was T'Pau FFS.
