I'm raging inside I'm so fucking angry Angry

We have just had our dog brought back by the police because he left the fucking front door open again!!!!!!

And now a poor little boy has had to go to the hospital for a tb jab, the police man said our dog walked over to the pub garden where some kids were playing football, a witness said the kids were all stroking him and playing but one of the boys got a bit rough and started hitting him with a stick, the witness said the boy climbed on his back by this time our dog must of got pissed of and nipped the boy.

I have told dh soooo many times to shut the front door after him when he goes into the garage for something incase our dog gets out as he is over friendly and will go up to people!!

I'm now scared someone will want to come and take our dog away and put him down because of his breed! If I was the boys parent I would report this to the dog warden so I'm guessing they will do that.

Would they bring him back if they thought he was a dangerous dog?? They did say they could tell his was friendly because the landlord at the pub was feeding him and playing with him.

I'm sooo Angry about this I can't even look at dh, ahhhhh I've told him so many time about the fucking front door!!!

Inability to realise that hitting a small dog with a stick may not result in a trip to disneyland? Yes of course. Hmm

scottishmummy · 15/07/2011 00:06

MonkeysInShoes · 15/07/2011 00:06

Apart from the breed, I think kiwi's post was succinct and totally to the point Grin

YABU for owning a bogan dog breed of dog that is specifically bred for its aggression

Really?

TemperamentAlthough individual differences in personality exist, common traits exist throughout the Staffords. Due to its breeding, the modern dog is known for its character of indomitable courage, high intelligence, and tenacity. This, coupled with its affection for its friends, its off-duty quietness and trustworthy stability, make it a foremost all-purpose dog.[3] It has been said that "No breed is more loving with its family"[4] It is the only breed to have the words 'totally reliable' in its breed standard. Furthermore, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is one of only two breeds from over 190 recognized by the UK Kennel Club to have a mention of the breed's suitability with children.[5][citation needed]

The breed is naturally muscular and may appear intimidating; however, because of their natural fondness for people, most Staffords are temperamentally ill-suited for guard or attack-dog training. Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppies are very easy to house train

Im going to literally explode. A NIP IS CLOSED TEETH CLOSED JAW IT IS A QUICK INSTINCTUAL BACK OFF REACTION. A bite comes with a million warning signs before it, in most circumstances, obviously assuming dog isnt ill or distressed or very very frightened. Bites are SO different.

Cannot believe anyone can think a SBT is a "dangerous" breed. You know more border collies bite than SBTs. More labs. More cocker spaniels. More dinky bite your ankles off chihuahuas.

If the child had been BITTEN by this dog, or any other dog for that matter, he would likely be in need of more than just a tetanus. If the child hadnt been beating the dog and causing pain to the dog, the dog wouldnt have tried to protect itself by nipping.

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 15/07/2011 00:10

Oh i'm going for a fag and to smack a fucking snail with a lighter. I may explode. If you live in the north west and see a bright light ITS ME.

"Dog is a Staffie, known as an dangerous aggressive breed."

Known by WHOM, complex?

Rescue? Breed clubs? The Kennel Club? The EXPERTS?

Or you and the bloody tabloids?

Kiwi, the SBT is NOT bred for its aggression at all by responsible breeders and certainly not by dog fighting types. Those who breed the SBT for dog fighting specifically want and NEED the dog to be human friendly and able to be handled or they could not use them.

The VERY VAST MAJORITY of SBT are family pets or being killed in pounds week in, week out in huge numbers because of ignorance like your own.

RalphGnu · 15/07/2011 00:14

I live in the North West, TakeMe. If you see a suspicious person with 'a labile mood' also on a doorstep that will be me.

RalphGnu · 15/07/2011 00:16

Anyway, I'm off to bed now. Many thanks for an entertaining evening, scottishmummy. Sweet dreams.
