Forgive me I'm usually at work when this trash is on tv but why would the good ladies of mumsnet put Carol 'Craggyface' McGiffin's head on a stick? :)

Something doesn't need to be highbrow or pretentious just because it isn't crap

noddyholder · 11/07/2011 15:21

Bunny if it was intelligent I would like to think more women would watch it Your comment does women a huge disservice

SuePurblybilt · 11/07/2011 15:29

Carol McGiffin is possibly the thickest woman alive. It is baffling that she is allowed to gibber inane opinons through t'tellybox, without even taking into account the fact that she resembles a perma-tanned flying monkey.

suzikettles · 11/07/2011 15:30

I suspect Carol McGiffin is very, very intelligent. Which kind of makes it worse.

superjobeespecs · 11/07/2011 15:31

ive caught it on occasion and have caught the delicious john barrowman on there. i love john barrowman but that is the epitome of that show int it? cheesy overly sexual smut.

fedupofnamechanging · 11/07/2011 15:36

it's been going a long time and the format is a little tired. Back when Kaye Adams and Nadia Sawalha (sp?) were presenting, it was new and interesting.

Their main problems is that they are paid an awful lot of money to sit around and chat - let's face it, we do that for free and we have a lot of very interesting debates here. The money puts them out of touch with their target audience.

The other problem is their presenters - it's dull listening to the same opinions from the same people. They are bland and that is offensive to their target audience.

MrsBuntyisRatherGrumpy · 11/07/2011 15:42

BunnyWunny, there is a middle ground between the drivel that is LW and the 'highbrow'. When my DCs were very little, constantly breastfeeding and I was so tired I was virtually brain dead I attempted to watch it on a few occasions. It made me feel even more tired and brain dead than I already did. The presenters may well not be thick, but they do a pretty good job at pretending to be.

CJMommy · 11/07/2011 15:44

I'm with worraliberty ~ i like it. I like MN too Grin

HeidiKat · 11/07/2011 16:41

I feel a bit sorry for Carol McGiffin, I think she protests about not wanting babies far too much for someone who is genuinely not interested in them and I will be surprised if the wedding to the toy boy ever actually happens.

GothAnneGeddes · 12/07/2011 16:39

I'm still more annoyed about the dumbing down and disappearence of Working Lunch. Now there was some quality lunchtime viewing.

southeasthamster · 12/07/2011 16:41

how about light lunch? that was dire Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/07/2011 16:51

I really like Denise Welch and the tiny blonde lady who was in The Bill. I used to like Lynda Bellingham but she's just become so odd. Carol McGiffen is just radical, anything said, any topic, she just disagrees.

I haven't watched it for at least two years now... I wonder what I've been doing instead? Confused

CrapolaDeVille · 12/07/2011 16:54

I can't abide that faux overtly northerny 'ay oop misses, nudge nudge, like a bit of ows your father' fucking bile. Middle aged women on common heat, they're all well off and pretend to shop in Lidl. Eeeeewwwww.

ledkr · 12/07/2011 17:16

hedi i always think that, she is so ridculous about children that she almost certainly is jealous, like people who are "happY fat" and then loose 6 stone. All the losse women make me feel depressed about ageing as they are not great examples of older woman.

there are about 350 channels, turn it over then Hmm really i don't get all this hate - you aren't being forced to watch it are you

JoleneJoleneJoleneJoleeene · 12/07/2011 17:37

They hate everyone. It's the televised daily mail.

takethisonehereforastart · 12/07/2011 17:38

Can they get rid of Colleen Nolan while they are doing the cull? Please? I can't stand her.

EggyAllenPoe · 12/07/2011 17:44

they weren't very nice to Nell Mcandrew about her 'still' BF her 15mo DS.

Though MN does seem to be target for any hack out there. V. misogynist i believe. In the case of Carol McGifin - 'women beware women'

lachesis · 12/07/2011 17:49

They're a bunch of dried up auld hoors. I tried to watch them once or twice, but they're a lot of hateful cows.

southeasthamster · 12/07/2011 17:50

this threads kind of sounds like we are too though

Peachy · 12/07/2011 17:54

Hm why wouldn;t they like MN

Is it becuase it is like their show only better, you get to choose the arguments, and unlike LW callers (massive generalisation here) the average MN user who tries to make random crap judgements about things they know nothing of will get shot down.

The alst point being pretty much the antithesis of their nasty little show, which appears to honour bigotry and prattish behaviour.

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 12/07/2011 18:17

Could you not fit any more misogynist language into your post Lachesis?
