Forgive me I'm usually at work when this trash is on tv but why would the good ladies of mumsnet put Carol 'Craggyface' McGiffin's head on a stick? :)

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 11/07/2011 13:52

It is an appalling programme. All

"Aren't men daft?!" and "...now to win a holiday for two in the Algarve, answer this simple question. Can you drink wood? a) Yes, b) No or c) Not sure"

Fuck off fuck offf fucucucuuccukkkkk offoffffffffff yyooooouuuuuuu cuuuuuuuuuuuuun

spiderpig8 · 11/07/2011 13:54

You don't get it ..really??
Do you admit in real life to anyone you're are a MNer?

oohjarWhatsit · 11/07/2011 13:54

i think mumsnet voiceboxes come across very silly and opinionated sometimes when interviewed about current affairs and as such can be seen as a bit of a laughing stock.

having said that, i would never have Loose Women on in my house, its so terrible its laughable :)

EvenLessNarkyPuffin · 11/07/2011 14:08

MY DH knows what MN is about. I shock impress him with my knowledge of things like Dragonbutter.

LW used to be much better, watchable in fact. the last few years its descending into total dirge though. the man bashing is embarrassing and the presenters get worse as the months go by. bleurgh.

JanMorrow · 11/07/2011 14:20

Loose Women makes me ANGRY.. it's an embarrassment to the world, not just women, THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE.

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 11/07/2011 14:29

Well, spiderpig - I haven't seen any anti-mumsnet stuff on LW (I very rarely watch it), but to answer your question - yes, I've told lots of people in r/l that I am a mumsnetter.

BecauseImWorthIt · 11/07/2011 14:32

Who do you mean by 'mumsnet voiceboxes' oohjarWhatsit?

TheCrackFox · 11/07/2011 14:32

I didn't realise that it was still on.

Please tell me that it is a hideously untrue rumour that Dawn French will be on it. She can do better, surely?

bringmesunshine2009 · 11/07/2011 14:33

Oh my good god, I can't stop myself watching it, bloody maternity leave. JSP is the only one of the panel who is remotely funny, interesting and intelligent. Other than that bunch o shrieking haridans.

LW is like being trapped on a lunch date with my mother and grandmother. Both avid DM readers. In fact my mother says of LW: "Can't stand that Kate Thornton, can't imagine what issues her poor son must have [wtf mum] though I do like Carol, I could imagine her being the sort I would love to have as friend" holy crap, I am still seized of the belief I must of been adopted and my real family are living in California living busy and interesting lives as I can't bloody stand CM esp the fact that she bangs on abt her much younger boyf CONSTANTLY, yeah well done love.

Today's mention was because CM suggested (laughingly) buggies be banned to encourage toddler exercise. Sigh. Doesn't have children so tries to be all contraversial on child rearing topics and masking comments as attempts at irony.

As for MNers all being Waitrose shopping, Boden clad, judgey parents, well aren't we?! Seems to be the common aspiration.

HappyAsIAm · 11/07/2011 14:34

The only women I've enjoyed as regular presenters on LW are Lynda Bellingham, Janet Street-Porter, and back in the early days, Kaye Adams.

I'm a bit mweh about the others, so I don't watch it. Its not worth sitting through for an hour for the little I get out of it.

ShirleyKnot · 11/07/2011 14:37

BIWI - haven't you got a mumsnet voicebox? I thought you got one automatically when you sign up - it changes your accent into a middle class one and changes the words Fruit Shoot into Perrier and McDonalds into Pizza Express.

Hmm
BecauseImWorthIt · 11/07/2011 14:40

Mine says Sauvignon Blanc, acksherly. I definitely have the premium version, Shirley.

TheCrackFox · 11/07/2011 14:40

Kaye Adams was great, why isn't she on TV anymore?

suzikettles · 11/07/2011 14:46

Kaye Adams is great. She's doing radio in Scotland.

I don't know what posessed her. Well, tbf they probably paid better than Radio Scotland.

worraliberty · 11/07/2011 14:49

Loose Women is just a bunch of old biddies banging on about stuff they think everyone wants to hear their opinions on.

It's exactly like Mumsnet which is why I like it Grin

noddyholder · 11/07/2011 14:52

I would be more worried if they liked us. They are just a load of has beens spouting inane drivel. Men would not tolerate something that crap being presented as a representation of their sex and neither should we. And from a purely shallow POV the clothes and esp the wacky big jewellery etc are awful and I don't know anyone who would be seen dead dressed like them

suzikettles · 11/07/2011 14:54

Granted, I haven't seen it for a while but it always seemed to be along the lines of:

A) All men are crap. Here is an annecdote about how a man I know is crap.
B) I love wine I do. I was so drunk on wine. Mmmm. Wine. I am hungover because last night I drank some wine, fell over and showed my knickers.
C) Some light sexual harrassment of a minor male soap star barely out of his teens.

worraliberty · 11/07/2011 14:57

suzikettles and that's different to Mumsnet how? Grin

Actually, I'm not sure if you were talking about MN or LW then Blush

LauLauLemon · 11/07/2011 15:00

I hate Carol. I think she looks like a mutilated cabbage patch doll (her features are odd) and she's made some ignorant comments on TV that have just made my eyes glaze over and my mind scream "WHYYYYY?"

suzikettles · 11/07/2011 15:01

Hmm. Fair point... Grin

Another similarity: I tend to hide MN threads along those lines. And I hide LW using my remote control.

fannybaws · 11/07/2011 15:06

Kaye Adams is not on anymore because the production company would not let her take as much mat leave as she wanted, allegedly!! So not very pro women loose women.

SleepyFergus · 11/07/2011 15:07

Hear Hera worraliberty very well said.

superjobeespecs · 11/07/2011 15:16

kaye adams was great :) barely watched since she left but all it seems to be is a load of nobodies along with a few must be down on their luck pretty clever ladies talking about sex alcohol bloody win a holiday and a bunch of random crap slebs .. what a load of bollocks.

BunnyWunny · 11/07/2011 15:17

I like it- don't think the presenters are thick, I think they are trying to appeal to a wider audience of women- no-one would watch it if it was all highbrow and pretentious intelligent debate. Carol McGiffin is there to be the controversial element- she's just putting the cat among the pigeons to fire the debate- doubt she really believes a lot of what she says- I like her.

And for a bunch of women who don't watch it because it's rubbish- you know an awful lot about it.
