I don't want to do anything. I want to do what I want to do and for the fairy godmother to do all the boring stuff. I've got people coming to stay - hence lots of lovely housework - and essays to write. I've got paperwork to do for work - boring, tiresome paperwork. And I don't want to do it, any of it. I want to do nothing but nice stuff. For the first time in my life I don't want to work hard, at anything. Except nice stuff.

haha I love this! I could have written this post today!! I came in work at 11.30 and will be leaving at 3.20 have done bugger all and currently on mumsnet as lunchtime!!!! I'm a teacher and have been working at reduced hours because been quite ill (pregnancy related) but have been feeling bit better recently. I don't want to do ANYTHING apart from what I WANT TO DO! Which is sweet FA!!!! Or as you say, NICE things!!!!

Its the first time in my lfe where I've felt it so strongly. I just don't care about work AT ALL and that's never happened before. I do get little pangs of guilt about it but they dispel VERY quickly.

Its a shame you cant get a regular wage for doing 'nice things' - they would all be queuing up for that!

Our air con in the buiding is off and it is so humid and hot in here it is making me sleepy!

YANBU. I've a ton of work to do around the house before I drop ds off and head to work and I have a real cba head on today.

Bright side is that ds is staying at my mums tonight so I shall have plenty of time to catch up later. I so won't, I shall head to the pub with dh and get raucously drunk

Mm am loving this thread. This is so where I am right now. Have discussed with DH how I have lost all motivation for the house work and for going to work. It's actually quite a nice feeling cos it's the first time I have felt like this in my life.I have always wittered and felt guilty trying to juggle the house , work and caring for our 3 yr old and 5yr old .

I've got foreign students staying and I've always been such a good host. But recently found out that the language school charges them £200pw and I get £100pw (MUG) and it now makes sense why foreign students expect 5* hotel treatment. BUT that's not my fault - they're being ripped off and I'm being ripped off, but I'm not going to make up the slack. I've told the students the facts (£) but I'm still not going to be ms wonderful and look after all these ickle foreign students who would be quite happy if I wiped their arses; and throw a fit, or myriad pathetic excuses, if I tell ask them to wash up, eg.

Fuck off, would about sum it all up. It - life, responsibilities, work - can all just fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

Am going away this afternoon for a nice restful weekend, away from dh and the chiddlers (actually that's not quite true - we are taking 30 teens/pre-teens away for the weekend and I'm in charge of catering. Gulp). I had planned to get the house ship shape before I went but my list of tasks is getting ever longer and I've not finished packing yet plus Mumsnet keeps calling to me And I have a 20 month old who is keen to 'help' in his own special way

If your visiting people are friends they won't care that you haven't done the housework. If they're family they can damn well chip in when they get there. There you go - your list's shorter already

DH is away for 2 weeks, and I took the opportunity to spring clean. The house is spick and span, and today I was going to do laundry, finish painting the kitchen, and lay the new tiles in the bathroom.

And then I thought, fuck it. I had a 2-hour bath instead, with tea and chocolate.

I have 8 and a half working days left (and every half hour is being ticked off and counted down) until I start my maternity leave. I literally CANNOT wait.
I doubt it means my house is going to get any tidier though (I don't understand this "nesting" everyone keeps telling me about, unless nesting means making a nest of cushions on my sofa and falling asleep with the cat in it?)
I got in work late this morning and I'm leaving at half 4 too. And have now spent 2 hours on MN. My thinking is work have had plenty of work out of me in the last 7 years, this is my time now!
