To have not left my details on the windscreen?

Gah. Went to get some spuds from my local well known supermarket. Parked in a parent and child parking space. When I came out of the shop there was a car that had parked next to me but over the box on the ground so I might as well have been parked in an ordinary spot iyswim because I had barely enough room to get ds into his car seat.

Anyway, I'm trying to get him in when I bump my door and it scratches the other car on it's rear door. it left a noticeable mark about an inch square.

The car is a really high end, top of the range type thing. I googled and the prices start from around 50,000 quid Shock. I waited for about 15 mins but it was hot and ds was getting cranky so I left. Without leaving my details.

My rationale is this - the car was parked carelessly over the grid on the floor, impinging on my space. I don't want my premiums to go up if I am honest, we are skint enough.

Aibu (probably) I took the Reg number of the car so I could contact the dvla I suppose.

I contacted the police who went round and spoke to the offender. The witness didnt want to get involved further so there was lack of evidence, but if she would have, I would have had the offender prosecuted.

YABU. You knew the car was close but still managed to bump it. If you couldn't be more careful you should have left your details. The other car might not have been well-parked but this is pretty common in car parks.

This is why I never park next to a car with a car seat in it.

Because all my shopping was in otherside. Dh said go back to the store and see if it's still there.

My car was parked outside our house and hit by another driver when we had all the snow last year. They did damage and drove away without leaving details or knocking at the door.

It was expensive to fix and a lot of hassle I didn't need. Even a tiny dint or scratch can mean a new panel or a total respray is needed.

You don't want your premiums to go up but they could be as skint as you, even in a pricy car.

And even though they parked carelessly, it was your actions afterwards that did the damage. You could have gone back in and had them paged or put your LO in from the other side and a note on their windscreen saying "learn to park idiot" if you wanted to make a point. You shouldn't have to do that of course, but it would have been better than damaging their car by accident or in temper.

Because the only two people who could possibly think it's anything other than unreasonable to damage someone elses property and not take responsibility is either a troll looking for someone to bite or a twat who honestly thinks there might be some debate.
The addition of the P&C parking space and a high-end car just made me think that it might be someone on a wind-up.

I'm ignoring the parent and child space issue - if someone parks so close to me that I can't get in the car or get my shopping in the car I don't care if I bump it a little (even though I try not to)

worraliberty supermarket is a 2 min drive from my house.

Ok, went back car still there. Have left mobile and home number on windscreen. Dh reckons it doesn't look that bad and has taken a picture of it. I guess I'm just worried that it will cost a shit load to fix.

How bloody hard is it to park within the lines of a space? Accidents happen, the other driver should have parked within its own bloody space and you clearly have a heart because you went back. Not many people would have the guts to go back after!
