Manshape knocked at hers earlier and told her that he was having a bonfire this evening. She pulled her face and said she'd take her washing in later.

It's still out, and tbh, i don't think she's any intention of taking it in at all.

Manshapes reluctant to light the fire, but i say go for it - she doesn't bother telling us when she's having a bonfire wether i've washing out or not, at least he gave her fair warning.

So AIBU to go ahead and light it?

YANBU. You warned her with plenty of time for her to let her washing dry and fetch it in, plus she has bonfires herself and doesn't give you the same courtesy.

I would rather the neighbours had a bonfire than a barbecue TBH, the smell from them is horrible, much worse than from a normal bonfire.

I doesn't make it alright just because you WARNED her!

It's not OK to pollute peoples air space is this lovely summer weather.

Best to take rubbish to the tip.

Nicer though to arrange a time with the neighbours rather than "warning" them? A bit more cordial and they'll be more likely to put themselves out for you in the future.
