To go to the toilet manually?

Docky81 · 03/07/2011 19:55

I have a constipation problem so I tend to stick my fingers up my bum and manually pull poo out sometimes. Obviously I give my hands a good wash afterwards with anti-bacterial gel. I let this slip to DP last night and he said I was disgusting and wierd and he couldn't stop going on about it. I didn't think it was a big deal and no different to pulling bogies out of your nose.

IF this isn't a wind up (and if it is, get a life because it's in fucking poor taste and an insult to many people who DO suffer) then yes, it isn't as unusual as you think, to do this.

You must go to the GP and get help. Not unusual but certainly not good for you either.

bubblesincoffee · 03/07/2011 20:47

Oh God. There's a link on this thread. I wanna see but I'm too scared of what will be there if I click!

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 03/07/2011 20:49

Bubbles I expect the OP feels the same every time she shoves her finger up her butt.

This is bonkers. I bet THIS thread doesn't make MN pick of the day?

MummyTigger · 03/07/2011 20:50

YANBU.... I'm ashamed to say that I have to do this on occasion, though not quite to the extent you do. Just kind of a wiggle of an index finger...

Wonder if Docky is a fan of spacedocking?

If you are one of the fortunate few MNers who haven't yet googled that; don't.

M0naLisa · 03/07/2011 20:51

omg thats foul! i hope you dont make your own pastry

youarekidding · 03/07/2011 20:54

I guess many of you don't suffer chronic and serious constripation. Sometimes 'tis necessary.

All the laxatives in the world don't help if it gets stuck or you have poor colon muscles due to problems iyswim?

HOWEVER: Agree this isn't the place to discuss it. Mainly because I was am eating a chocolate mouse atm. and there's a general heath topic where you'll get advice as you know its NR to have to do this daily on a health basis.

nbee84 · 03/07/2011 20:57

It's possible that the op is quite genuine and has a rectocele

If you have a read, near the bottom it explains about digitation - where you insert a finger/thumb into your vagina to help guide the stool out.

Op if this is the case, then if you search rectocele there are threads on Mumsnet about this with some good advice.

glassescase · 03/07/2011 21:01

WHY DID I READ THIS Shock

Birdsgottafly · 03/07/2011 21:01

You used to have to do manual extraction on both babies and adults, in the past. There wasn't the medication available or the knowledge that there is now, also older mediction caused extreme constapation. It became a form of abuse about ten years ago and was stopped for that reason, in health care.

Op you need to get good medical advice because there are effective stool softners that will help and dietry advice, also. If you do have to do it, just don't share the information.

Riveninside · 03/07/2011 21:03

Use an enema.

pigletmania · 03/07/2011 21:03

ERrrr its not something you share on a public forum. You should really see your GP if you have to resort to that.

pigletmania · 03/07/2011 21:04

Use germaloids

michelleseashell · 03/07/2011 21:07

It's the shelf thing that makes me believe this is real.

I know it probably is horrifying to hear but this does happen. People don't have two weeks to arrange an appointment, wait while the dinners stack up downstairs and then waddle desperately to the gp to tell them a poo is stuck.

I'll happily swap bums with one of you sceptics for the day. It'll be a load off for me!

nbee84 · 03/07/2011 21:16

It was the shelf thing that made me think of a rectocele. Part of the wall of the bowel prolapses into the vagina and it can feel as if you are pushing against something, rather than straight out of your anus - almost like you need to push around a corner.

youarekidding · 03/07/2011 21:16

What is the shelf?

LostMyIdentityAlongTheWay · 03/07/2011 21:27

nbee84. Girl, I LIVED on that rectocele thread and posted a LOT on it before and after I had the operation.

I have had it done. I have sympathy. I just wouldn't post about it on AIBU. That's just bloody bonkers.

floosiemcwoosie · 03/07/2011 21:29

I so wish I hadn't been nosey and read this.

A1980 · 03/07/2011 21:33

Take some Milk of Magnesia. It will releive it within hours, i kid you not.

Be careful with your amnual method, the combination or rock hard stool and stuffing your fingers up there, you may rip something.

Happymm · 03/07/2011 21:40

My eyes are bleeding reading this thread! Shock

Why oh why would you do this? Doesn't it make your fingers stink of poo?
