I can not say who but I can say that my friend is a very decent human being who has helped her a lot and does not deserve her nastiness.

Blatherskite · 01/07/2011 20:40

If any name is a euphemism surely it's Cherry Menlove!

diggingintheribs · 01/07/2011 20:54

I thought the name was familiar

MIL got me her gardening book from her single days. Very poncey and weird shots of her that were kind of inappropriate for a gardening book! My first comment on reading was to say to DH 'this woman loves herself so much!'

Is she really not american?

Anyway, have to say that her DH's cancer is very sad. I hope he recovers and wish them all the best.

TigerLily11 · 01/07/2011 21:15

I feel sorry for the husband too, and it is v sad because it sounds like he is a decent man which is a far cry from what she is.

Been a fan of menlove for a while but really starting to dislike the whole 'image'. She is a human being and I hope all the best for her and her family. However it always seems that her sister Jodie is the one doing all the 'behind the scenes' work and it is Cherry who takes all the limelight and credit. It seems so set up, from the photography of their 'everyday lives' to their old home. Was just doing a bit of digging because I can't seem to make sense of her world and came across their old rented home for sale. www.zoopla.co.uk/property-history/hazelhurst-farm/strood-green/wisborough-green/billingshurst/rh14-0hj/14629706

A huge house for just the two of them originally? They probably had staff on site or maybe her sister lived there considering how she's 'always there'! The problem with this blog is that she tries to come across that she is a down to earth mum who gets poo on her hands, yet she maintains an airbrushed lifestyle. Constantly name dropping expensive products that she uses/owns.

It was nice as a blog to start off with but now it's a business venture and nothing more!

It is possible to live in a big house even when there is just the two of you, especially if you want to start a family. It is nice to have a big kitchen/diner, living room, study, dining room, family room etc, and once you have these then there tends to be 5/6 bedrooms upstairs too.

When DH and I both worked we lived in very similar house, and there was just the two of us there. Now there is 3 of us we live in a tiny house!

crazyworld · 04/07/2011 16:52

Yes but there is a swimming pool and and extra cottage attached. I can understand buying a big house in preparation for a family but just to rent one is silly....unless of course you are filthy rich(but then why rent?). Just thought it was a bit much. All in all the house doesn't matter too much, I just feel what we see is not real and although this can be true in many everyday blogs, this one is more like a magazine rather than real life.

It's clear to see now that she set out to get book/tv deals from the beginning and a lot of people have been let down as she has obviously used us (her readers) to get where she is now. It's not just a friendly blog, it's a business.

Onlyaphase · 04/07/2011 19:21

Yes, I absolutely agree that the whole blog is staged in a look at my lovely life type way. There is little mention of the cleaner/gardener/help that she obviously has in the house in order to do the cooking/gardening/painting etc, photograph and blog about it.

My take on this is that they wanted a certain type of house to fit with the lifestyle and potential book deal, and this is the house they chose that fitted their needs best. I also think they are renting whilst waiting for the market to drop (I know a few people doing this who work in the city, are banking their bonuses and waiting for the market to drop whilst stacking up the money).

Think Crazys comment about it being a business not a friendly blog is absolutely spot on.

Menlove has already had a book?!

I think for the most part I rather like her. I think she could do with realising her age and spend less time pulling sexy pouty faces into the camera, but I do enjoy reading her blog.

I think that there's nothing wrong with writing a blog in the hopes that it might turn into something a bit more - whether that's a book deal or just some sponsors in your sidebar or even just a free product. Let's be honest, any of us that do write a blog, if someone came along and offered us these opportunities would we really say no?
