We've just arrived at a gite in France. The owners have left loads of football-based magnets stuck on the fridge, and as DS1 (3.7 years) is football mad we were going through them together.

One of the footballers is called Rod Fanni.

I thought it was hilarious. DP did the face at me. I have no idea if Monsieur Fanni is famous, but he brightened up my day!

My Dad used to have elderly clients (long since dead, I'm sure) who ived together, unmarried. Their names were Percy Large and Fanny Slack!

DD and I were in stitches last night when we heard this on the Wimbledon coverage. It kept us entertained for minutes as we tried to perfect our mardy fish impersonation. Well what do you suppose a sullen goldfish huffing and puffing its way around the bowl would look like?

I used to work for a company with offices in the US and one of the guys in the Texas office was called Sterling Pratt!

I still smirk every time I hear Jeremy Hunt the Culture Secretary, remembering Jim Naughtie's spoonerism

Jim Naughtie had no more than a slip of the tongue, it wasn't a Spoonerism

A spoonerism would have had him say Heremy Junt which is not at all humerous

A Spoonerism would be Red Nipple intsead of Ned Ripple or Fuck Chickens intead of Chuck Fickens

If it's considered bad form to pick someone up on poor use of spelling or grammar, then surely incorrect use of linguistic devices should be allowed to slip through.
