To think that leggings are not the same as trousers....

And if you are going to wear them please for the love of god wear a top that covers your bum. I've lost count of the amount of women I've seen recently wearing short tops and leggings and it just looks WRONG! Not also counting the fact that most leggings are see through so showing their pants off too!

It really bugs me

No, no one looks good with a leggings and short top combo. No one!

BulletWithAName · 27/06/2011 11:47

Agree with the consensus that leggings should be worn with an arse covering top, however... I buy the light control ones from Primark and you cannot see a thing through them, because they're 100% lycra and not a cotton lycra mix. Cotton lycra ones are shite, they lose their shape and bag at the knees, whereas my £4 ones keep their shape and are skintight no matter how many times you wash them. Maybe they should invest in some of those? Grin

But maybe those wearing the knicker showing ones also think theirs are not see-through? Confused

OP YANBU, I hate seeing anyone, no matter what size wearing leggings with short top (apart from children), they can look really nice with skirt/tunic but otherwise awful.

Grin at 'jiggly joggers' up thread

YA sooooooooo NBU!

Young guys like it though as they apparently get to see a girls 'potential' before making a move, but as a woman I find it ick as I don't want to stare at the outline of your ass crack and vaj when I walk behind you up a flight of stairs. I'm not looking on purpose, its just so hard to miss.

DH thought I was making a big fuss last week about not wearing my leggings because my tops that I use to cover that area when I wear them were dirty. I'm going to show him this thread as he doesn't quite get womens fashion issues sometimes and he acted like I was making a big deal. My leggings are very opaque so I think he didn't see the harm, but they are not trousers FFS.

Gwen wear them! You are not too big. And anyone being derogatory towards larger women can ROYALLY PISS OFF.

IMO it is not a size issue, it is an 'I don't want to see your sweaty bits down below' issue, which is why I think that area should be covered. Otherwise, leggings are great, comfy and stretchy and look nice on anyone who wears them appropriately.

Before pregnancy I was a size 10 and am 24, I could very well have carried the short top look off, but just wouldn't out of sheer politeness.

I don't think, I know, because I look in the mirror before I go out!

Grin bibbity - but there are so many people wearing them I thought I was either turning into an old fart, or missing some massive fashion revolution or something.

I agree with the fact they should be treated as tights, I don't really think it matters how big you are if they are worn under a long top or dress, it's just the camel toe and arse/pant exposure that I object to - on people of ALL sizes!!
