DS is nearly 2, and everytime I tell someone his full name, they make a face :( Our families, friends, and now people we meet at playgroups and nursery.

It's a fairly unusual first name, but really common middle name, and for some reason everyone finds it fun to snigger at him. I'm starting to worry that he'll be bullied for it at school. DP says to ignore them, and that they are just jealous that his name stands out from the crowd, but I can't help being upset by it :( I'm thinking even about stopping using his first name altogether.
AIBU to wish people would just accept him?

There was a Wayne Ankers at my uni. The poor lad was forever signing up for the football/rugby team only to have his name crossed out by unamused organisers.

Funniest bit was that when I asked one of my friends who this famous Wayne Ankers was, she said "You'll know him when you see him, he looks like a pig" And you know what? He did.

Worst name I've ever witnessed a baby christened as is ReignBeau.. I almost called SS to report my friend for child abuse! Of course I never did but was tempted. Everybody calls her Reign now (except me, as godmother I reserve the right to ignore her christened name completely and call her RB for the rest of her given days!)...

Heard a story about an Anne Teak once and loved the one on here (another name thread) about the husband and wife lawyer and banker called Sue Mee and Rob Mee Grin

KaraJS · 23/06/2011 18:25

How rude, it's up to you what you call your child and what sort of adult would make fun of a child what ever the name, after all you might not like what they gave called their kids but prob wouldn't be rude enough today so!

KaraJS · 23/06/2011 18:33

How rude! You call your child what you like, what sort of adult would make fun of a childs name anyway? You might not like their kids names but wouldn't be so rude as to tell them!

Edward Ian = Edwardian.

Does he have a brother called Victor Ian by any chance?

If anyone does look askance at a parent introducing their child by using their first and second names and the parent doesn't like it, may I suggest that they start just using the first name alone? Non?
