DS is nearly 2, and everytime I tell someone his full name, they make a face :( Our families, friends, and now people we meet at playgroups and nursery.

It's a fairly unusual first name, but really common middle name, and for some reason everyone finds it fun to snigger at him. I'm starting to worry that he'll be bullied for it at school. DP says to ignore them, and that they are just jealous that his name stands out from the crowd, but I can't help being upset by it :( I'm thinking even about stopping using his first name altogether.
AIBU to wish people would just accept him?

Ludo Chris isn't a ludocrous name.

You could call him Lou for short.

TescoValueNickname · 23/06/2011 13:52

sorry, bored at work today Blush

(and I think all the marks out of 10 would have been better written as 'TescoValueTroll' :o)

Grin

So who are you then? At least tell us that.

Crosshair · 23/06/2011 13:56

You're a bad person.

HeidiKat · 23/06/2011 13:59

Had my suspicions but didn't want to call troll in case it was for real and anyone would actually call their child that, I have heard worse names before Grin.

pinkytheshrinky · 23/06/2011 14:00

They are right to snigger it is a dreadful and ill thought through name

Mumwithadragontattoo · 23/06/2011 14:06

Empusa · 23/06/2011 14:10

iklboo · 23/06/2011 14:14

My friend genuinely knows a couple who named their daughter:

Isla Skye

They wanted two Scottish sounding names but, not being from UK, weren't aware of the Isle of Skye.....

eurochick · 23/06/2011 14:16

Well done for not putting the name in the OP and making people drag it out of you!

superjobeespecs · 23/06/2011 14:18

milkybarkidsgirlfriend · 23/06/2011 14:23

Sam and Ella is true - well in my cousins Case ..Sam & Elenor! but cards etc are signed off as Sam & Ella.

TechLovingDad · 23/06/2011 14:35

My mate named his DCs Sam & Ella, didn't get the joke until his dad said "don't let them open a restaurant".

Omigawd · 23/06/2011 15:48

I really did know a family called King who named their DS "Wayne"

Poor kid.

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 23/06/2011 15:52

Lol, I actually know a Ludo, but i don't think his middle name is Chris.Grin
His name suits him.

KaraToytown · 23/06/2011 16:00

We had Ella as a possible girl's name for our second until we realised.

frazzle26 · 23/06/2011 16:09

BobbaFettBountyHunter · 23/06/2011 16:25

I knew someone in 6th form called Will Swallow.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 23/06/2011 16:29

PMSL @ will swallow

really dont get wayne king? [bit dim]

TheOriginalFAB · 23/06/2011 16:31

Why would you tell any one his full name? When people ask you what your child is called they usually just mean the first name. You will probably get less Hmm looks too if you just say Ludo.

SchrodingersMew · 23/06/2011 16:38

Edward Wayne King - Wanking

Great thread! Made me laugh. :o
