When we were much younger we would settle down to 5 or 6 hours viewing on a regular basis.

Las night we watched half an hour. Now it is not just that TV has got worse. It is mainly I suspect because we have changed. TV has few new tricks to show us. How is it for you?

I have recently got a 47" 3D LED smart TV. I am in love with TV again. It's amazing,

MayorNaze · 22/06/2011 09:41

ditto

i watch horrible histories Blush

that's about it. and not even that really as i am usually cooking the tea

dh watches loads of documentaries which i can't really make a catsbum face about

but personally i really can't be arsed with it any more and get v cross when i have this convo with the dcs

"can i watch tv?"
"what is it you were wanting to watch?"
"dunno, just tv"

Angry
MayorNaze · 22/06/2011 09:42

ditto OP that is

thenightsky · 22/06/2011 09:42

It's because there is nothing worth watching these days. I find I only watch about an hour and then I lose interest and go mumsnetting instead.

gethelp · 22/06/2011 09:46

I think the bigger choice has made me more selective, I know a lot of it is complete garbage so I only watch a few things.
However I do think my kids have missed out on the classic movies and tv plays I loved when I was about 10, there was nothing else on so I watched them, they watch re-runs of Friends and Scrubs and that is because they have 'choice'.

Bloodymary · 22/06/2011 09:47

We have been very limited for the last 5 days as little girl has lost the sky 'buttons'.
Its great as she gets on with her art and craft instead. Grin

A 47 inch tv is huge, is it in a large room?

cumbria81 · 22/06/2011 09:48

I don't have a TV but am afraid I don't do anythign worthy like reading Charles Dickens of an evening, I just piss about on the internet instead.

Yes, I go back to the time when TV was new. If one was on in a shop window a small crowd would gather to watch it.

JudysJudgement · 22/06/2011 09:57

i have the telly on in the background when i am on my laptop, but cant really say i watch, except the Apprentice, which is my fave

TheCrackFox · 22/06/2011 09:58

If I had to choose between my laptop or my TV I would choose my laptop. There just doesn't seem to be anything that good on TV - Peter Andre, The Real house Wives of Orange County were just a sample of the shite that the TV companies offered last night.

fedupofnamechanging · 22/06/2011 10:00

I watched Primeval last night. It's total shite, but Connor is lovely Wink

River City? Really?

StanHouseMuir · 22/06/2011 10:20

If I had my way I would remove all TVs from our house. It's surprising how little you miss it when it's not there.

I would watch more TV if companies actually put on interesting, intelligent dramas/comedies. The more they churn out cheap to produce crap such as reality shows the less I watch.

Seem to be relying more and more on American shows for quality nowadays.

TimeWasting · 22/06/2011 10:23

I watch far too much and hate it. It's addictive. I'm looking forward to getting rid of the damn thing soon.

GabbyLoggon · 22/06/2011 10:23

QWe do watch

Panorama if its a good subject.

Kids/animals do the funniest things.

TV news.

Newsnight some nights.

Some footie and other sport.

Dh and I tend to watch an episode from specific DVD sets we buy or rent. so maybe 1 or 2 (usually 1) episodes an evening (so between 45 mins and 1.5 hours) . We don't do this evey evening though, maybe 3-5 times a week

We have just finished series 1 of Spartacus and are also in the middle of series 2 of Heroes.

I was also watching Brothers and Sisters, the Good Wife and Parenthood ont he evenings where we don't wats a dvd. The first two have just finished Sad so just watching the last one now. Dh doesn't watch these at all.

Overall Dh watches less than 1 hour a night across the week, I probably watch a bit more than an hour a day but nowhere near 2.

Quenelle · 22/06/2011 10:51

At the moment we watch:

The Apprentice and The Apprentice You're Fried

I watch The Good Wife but DH doesn't like it.

Erm...

That's about it at the moment. The problem is finding something we both like. We do watch stuff on BT Vision, but there's not much there we both like either, except The Sopranos. We'll probably dig the Frasier box sets out and start from the beginning.

We love a good comedy but there aren't any about at the moment. If we had Paramount we'd probably be glued for the night.

Insomnia11 · 22/06/2011 10:55

There's more to do nowadays.

Last night I watched the news and Today at Wimbledon FWIW.

I nearly typed Toady at Wimbledon. That would be even better. "Poop Poop!"
