Formal dance quandary

I am attending a very, very formal ball in a few weeks. I have bought a lovely corset bodiced, full skirted (8 layers), floor length gown for the occasion. Looks beautiful but is very heavy and hot to wear.

My question is:

AIBU to omit underwear and go commando in an effort to:

a) keep my nethers (and legs) cool with help from a liberal sprinkling of talc,
and
b) take some of the faff out of the PITA that is going to the loo in such a frock.

Opinions appreciated :)

I love the dress. I second minipie, I think I'd feel too hot if I didn't wear cotton pants with it. Also I've never felt, when overheated, that taking off my pants would make me cooler...but then I obviously don't have a hotbot :o

If it's full length and fitted it has to be commando, but it would be pants to wear big knickers with your dress.

A matching raspberry and silver thong will solve your dilemma, and will protect your modesty if you engage in any over-enthusiastic wafting or end up legs akimbo for any reason.

GingerWrath · 21/06/2011 17:28

TrillianAstra there is a link further up the thread. Smile

OP, seriously - how much heat does a pair of knickers generate? Confused

GingerWrath · 21/06/2011 17:29

It's not just the heat, it is the faff of going to the loo too.

You are much, much cooler if you don't wear pants. I don't wear pants in hot weather when I am wearing a dress, and I 'feel the benefit', as they say.

motherinferior · 21/06/2011 17:33

And I'm talking about ordinary cotton pants, small ones, with a very small amount of lycra in them. It is most refreshing, and airy, to remove them.

TrilllianAstra · 21/06/2011 17:36

Oooh, that's a lot of skirt!

Don't your clothes get a bit...icky...for want of a better word when you don't wear pants?

motherinferior · 21/06/2011 17:47

No. Although I grin a lot.

I'd go commando! Beautiful dress!
