Seriously? Bubs? seriously?

I can think of very few ways to describe a child that are less annoying than Bubs,AIBU?

YADNBU. Falls into the same camp as 'hubby' for me Grin

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/06/2011 13:13

Very horrible. My DD is chick or chicken. She loathes both. DH calls her Bobbins or Bobs which is virtually Bubs but an abbreviation because she is Bobbins.

worraliberty · 20/06/2011 13:13

I agree Hunny Bubs...

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 20/06/2011 13:13

I hate it too. Also, my vet refers to my dog this way. It's so annoying. Angry

PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 13:15

GetOrf · 20/06/2011 13:16

It's for use by the Lolling Huns only.
At least it isn't Bubz, be thankful for small mercies.

PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 13:17

small mercies are too small

OP posts:
GetOrf · 20/06/2011 13:17

And Bubba.

BUBBA.

When anyone refers to their baby as bubba it makes me think of that character in Forest Gump 'fried shrimp, broiled shrimp, shrimp with egg, shrimp with grits, shrimp with mo' shrimp'

PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 13:17

Small Mercy is a good name for a baby though or bub

PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 13:18

or a rose...small mercies would be a good name for a rose

Bubba is worse than Bubs, for sure.

My cousin went through a phase of calling her unborn daughter "bubba girl" on Facebook. Now it tends to be "little lady". Vom.

SeymoreButts · 20/06/2011 13:27

It's not that bad. I don't use it myself though at least not when anyone else is around.

During my first ever scan the sonographer referred to DD as bub. It really stuck in my mind, probably because I was a terrified youngster and it made the whole thing seem more normal.

PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 13:58

culturemulcher · 20/06/2011 13:59

Bubs and Bubba are Americanisms, aren't they? Maybe it's less annoying if you're American.

Hullygully · 20/06/2011 14:00

My kiddies are my lil bubbas and my hubby is my hubby-mobile.

What is wrong with that?

Highlander · 20/06/2011 14:00

it makes my skin crawl

PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 14:00

maybe it is less annoying if you don't speak or read english

OP posts:
PerryCombover · 20/06/2011 14:01

OP posts:
controlpantsandgladrags · 20/06/2011 14:02

A baby is a babby where I am (midlands) I catch myself saying it sometimes after so many years here Blush

I think bubba is an americanism.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 20/06/2011 14:05

Bubs is horrific. Lil man also makes my toes curl.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 20/06/2011 14:05

Aahh, controlpants, I'm midlands too.

When I took DD1 for her 20 month check the midwife asked her to point to a picture of the babby in the book she was holding.

DD gave her an absolute classic Hmm face.

I wet myself.
