DH was out straight from work yesterday. Been pretty busy, 6wo DS in the house and DD is 2.2yo. Let him get full nights sleep (he usually does DD), got kids out early to let him have day to himself, so he had me time up to 4.30. Got some help from my mum and was happy to facilitate the break.

DD has been of form all day and since we got home it's become clear she was an explosive tummy bug.

He had just said that after we get them to bed he wants to go to a friends party.

AIBU to think that as he has had a day off and we have one DC who is regularly exploding and may well need bathed/bed changes and who is freaked by the explosions that he is taking the piss?

Yanbu. Hand him a bucket and the Dettol and fuck off down the pub just to make a point.

Is it a mutual friend? Why not say to him that sine he went out yesterday, tonight it is your turn and you will be going to the party.

Or just say that two nights out for him is not fair and you are going out tonight. Go to a mate, go see a film, whatever.

And yes. he is taking the piss and being utterly selfish.

Although I bet he thinks he's being really nice by saying he'll wait until the children are in bed.

He is being absolutely unreasonable. He has had his night out and almost an entire hangover day. Why would he even begin to think he was being reasonable? He should be on duty tonight and tomorrow with you helping out towards the end of the day.

Hopefully you said "Are you having a laugh?" and that was the end of the matter.

YANBU. If you have ill DCs then it is all hands on deck.

Even if you didn't have ill DD then he would be taking the piss, because if he goes out tonight then he won't be on good form tomorrow either.

this is exactly the kind of thing my husband would do if he got the chance. I would just put my foot down and say no. Then take yourself off some where to unwind- maybe for a swim and sauna or something.

Depends if he expects to go out like this a lot.

Very occasionally I go out straight from work and even more occasionally I might go to a party. It often seems to work out that the two things fall on the same weekend and then I'll go months without going anywhere. If the party is for a very special occasion and he rarely goes out I'd try not not mind him going. If he's often out both eves of a weekend then he is BVU

Think he would be sensible - he could walk there in a few minutes and has said he has no interest in drinking, just wants to see some friends he hasnt seen in a while and would come back if I need him.

Issue is sick DD. Wouldn't have a prob with him going if she was well but really don't see how I could deal with DD covered in spew and poo running out her nappy without the extra pair of hands.

DH is in shower having caught a spew in the face.

DD is just out of bath again and I'm drying her hair while feeding DS.

Appetite for socialising diminished significantly by last few hours.

With a 6wk old I think your DH needs to take full responsibility for DD. You were beyond the call of duty kind to him today!! I wouldn't have managed that with a 6wk old!
