Will have DC2 in Sept. Really wanted to go away for a romantic weekend before baby comes. He wants to go away (to Europe) to see friends and I'll be left with DD or doing something with friends if I can arrange child care for DD.

Just want to have some quality time with him before baby comes and he has not been terribly "engaged" during this pg, mostly due to work pressures. Then again he is mostly very good at weekends and helpful, always gets up with DD so I can have a lie in, and takes her for walks so I can rest/mn .

"Spoiling me" is a horrible expression btw. Why should he be spoiling you? It wouldn't sound very appealing if someone said to you "this weekend you must spoil me". Why not think of it as doing something nice together?

If you have to insist someone 'spoils' or 'pampers' you (shudder) it rather defeats the object.

Can you not afford both OP? If so you should prioritise the weekend together. If you can afford both then YABU.

He has a lot of work on which means he'll have to be here some weekends and we already have a lot in the diary, and am assuming in the last month I won't want to go anywhere particularly.

"Spoiling me" is fine, as long as it goes both ways (and is more about effort than presents).

September is a long way off, I second you do both?
