When it's not even my pub .

I work in a local pub which has it's fair share of idiots regulars but there are a few who bring their dc with them.

Not too bad, but it's friday, saturday and Sunday nights, until closing.
The dc are between 8 and 12 and are fairly well behaved, sit at tables with their ds games. The parents sit at the bar talking crap, occasionally a child will wander over, ask how much longer and then be palmed off with bags of crisps and J2Os.

Not my place to tell others how to parent etc but the amount they spend over the bar, they could easily spend that money on a cheap weekend camping or something and a case of cider so at least the dc are doing something?

I know, iabu but it winds me up, i finished at 9 and they showed no signs of leaving, the dc don't want to be there and other customers have come out for a break from their own dc.

I ran a pub (8 years ago) and at the time it was illegal for children under 16 to be in the pub after 9 pm. Has the law changed now? If it hasn't I would tell them to take their kids home as it is illegal for them to be there!

We serve food as well so we do get children sat eating, which doesn't bother me- usually a family meal etc and they are interacted with. It's the whole throw snacks at them and they'll go away attitude, more than the time iyswim?
As long as the parents are enjoying themselves the dc don't matter.

The really really irritating thing (that I have only just realised!) is that 2 sets of parents drink with each other and live near each other. Can't they just go round each others houses?

I thought even with food it was a 9pm cut off for children.

I think each licence is different, but it might be worth checking 'yours' and gleefully pointing out the rules when next you get a chance:o
