DD is at her dads for the weekend, bored in the house all alone...am I a terrible person if I walk down to the pub (with a book to hide behind of course) and have a couple of glasses of wine?? Or am I a disgrace to all womankind for being such a wimp that I even have to ask this question? Wine

Go!

BuggerAllTheBestNamesAreTaken · 17/06/2011 19:35

Don't see any reason why you shouldn't, men do, but have to admit I couldn't do it. Will you know anyone in the pub, is it your local?

ItsNotRocketSurgery · 17/06/2011 19:35

Go ahead.

What's the book? Is it a book that says "chat me up I'm here alone" or one that says "leave me alone I want to be here alone"?

upahill · 17/06/2011 19:36

Just go. Not a probem.

AgentZigzag · 17/06/2011 19:36

YANBU to feel uncomfortable going.

YANBU to go.

What's the worst that can happen?

You'll meet some interesting folk and get a bit squiffy Smile

Zwitterion · 17/06/2011 19:36

Do it and enjoy.

DoMeDon · 17/06/2011 19:36

Wimp to ask Grin

I get it though - woman alone in pub is fascinating for some. Men often think it their duty to 'keep you company' Hmm GO GO GO!! Take the book and drink wine.

toastandmarmiterocks · 17/06/2011 19:36

Go, of course go.

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 17/06/2011 19:36

I only moved to the area 2 weeks ago so no it isn't a local! I haven't been in before, it isn't a dodgy boozers pub, it's a family dining separate pub area type affair. Haven't decided on the book yet!

ooh love going to the pub on my own espesh if they have a nice beer garden and the sun is shining , then going to the cinema on my own, then buying some really good choolate and going home to eat it on my own!! I get hardly any time to myself , does it show.......

Missgaga · 17/06/2011 19:37

Go and have fun, it's great in this day and age that you have a book/phone to keep you company and you are able to change your environment for a bit.

LaitAuChocolat · 17/06/2011 19:37

erm, yeah sorry we were talking about you yes yes yes go to the pub!!!!

Bearinthebigwoohouse · 17/06/2011 19:37

Go, go, go .... I do it all the time! Well not ALL the time, but if the opportunity arises I have no problem going in a pub on my own.

nicespam · 17/06/2011 19:37

i've done it before (in my youth) and usually got stuck with the resident drunk Grin (not that i was complaining!)

MixedClassBaby · 17/06/2011 19:38

No, of course it wouldn't BU! Unless you're under 18. No book required to hide behind. Lots of women pop into my local on their own.

AgentZigzag · 17/06/2011 19:38

I thought that INRS, but you don't go to the pub to be alone do you?

I reckon if you're there, even if you're reading, you're up for a chat.

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 17/06/2011 19:39

Right, fuck it, i'm going. Best put some make up on first or I will look like the resident drunk/hag at the end of the bar.

LaitAuChocolat · 17/06/2011 19:39

ChaoticAngelofLitha · 17/06/2011 19:40

With that user name you absolutely must go to the pub on your own WinkGrin

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 17/06/2011 19:40

ooh yes, go! i used to take my newspaper and sit and do the crossword. chuffing lovely bit of peace and quiet. sometimes it's a nice way to meet friendly people too if you sit at the bar. depends on how brave you are though.

smokinaces · 17/06/2011 19:41

Go! Have fun! I regularly go to the cinema/pub/restaurants alone. Billy no mates me Grin

Honeydragon · 17/06/2011 19:42

This used to be one of my most favourite things to do. Glass of wine, good book and no house work to distract meSmile

In fact my husband met me as he was rather intrigued by the girl who always say on her own on a wednesday night Wink he was most pleased to discover that u worked the bar at weekends too Grin

AgentZigzag · 17/06/2011 19:42

Woohoo! Good for you Smile

Are you taking us with you on your phone?

LetThereBeRock · 17/06/2011 19:43

Go and enjoy. I go to the cinema, theatre, restaurants, gigs etc by myself. There's nothing wrong with it.
