To Buy DD swimming lessons for her birthday?

She doesnt need any clothes/toys or anything else really, and my Dad is buying her a bike. She will be three and loves being in the water so I know she will enjoy it.

But I feel a bit mean - I could get her a couple of books to open on the day. We normally only do a present from us and a present from siblings (they have got her a new lunchbox)

Can you buy her something small to mark the day? Swimming lessons are great but they're intangible. What about a new swimming costume, baubles for her hair, funky goggles or pool shoes... or a water toy?

I think it is a sensible idea. I've thought about it myself - might as well spend the money on something she will really enjoy and wants. I think LyingWitch's idea is a good compromise.

Maybe you could make a little 'token' or vouchers to represent the lessons?

I like the idea of a swimming costume, or I could get my friend to make a towel with her name on it.
