So i am having a tonsillectomy (sp?) tomorrow as i get tonsillitas (sp?) once a month and its getting stupid...

Not sure why i am scared (probably because i googled it Shock) I have had lots of surgery before but its all been emergency.. For some reason i have in my head i am going to die on the table and never see DD again!

Any words of wisdom? A kick up the arse? a google ban

pooka It's supposed to be a much more awful operation for an adult than it is for a child, or so I've heard. Try not to worry, I'm sure your DD will be fine and it'll be worth it to stop the endless tonsillitis

giraffesCantZumba · 20/06/2011 21:15

sounds like easier for children so another reason to go for it now

pooka · 20/06/2011 21:15

Al1son (and others). Thank you sooo much for reassuring me!

The anaesthetist she's having gives gas first, and then canula after. She gets to choose what it smells of - strawberry or chocolate. She asked for gravy smell Confused.

I do so hope that she isn't rough for ages after - have ds2 at home, ds1 to be taken to and from school. Am hoping that she bounces back after and actually gets to have some fun - got lots of things we can do at home together.

Hope you adults recovering get better very soon. The dizziness sounds awful - hope the tablets work.

Giraffe no idea about the stuff comic out of your nose thing, sounds vile, I've never known that but I'd imagine it's what grumpy said. Sorry to hear about the vomitting. I am a bit sensitive to morphine and when I had mine out it made me really sick, about three bowls full over a few hours - and obviously it looks like pure blood, lovely.

pooka having your tonsils out as a child is generally considered to be much less traumatic than having them out as an adult according to the ENT surgeons at work, so she'll probably take it in her stride. Probably best that she's not dreading it tbh.

spoon sorry you're feeling so rough. That all sounds hideous. I would get you DH to write down when your mess are due and then tick them off when you've taken them. It was the only way i could keep track and it's really important to keep on top of them.

hellospoon · 20/06/2011 21:55

thank you for all your kind words!

I am about to dose myself up and go to bed! hoping i wont be in hospital tomorrow!

oh poor you. Cant remember what i put on this thread so il type again. Collapsed this morn and blood clots so staying in. Had tramadol which helps. Managing to eat. Il send pm again. Was worried phone would die using online but they ok with charging it.

PGTip · 21/06/2011 18:34

Don't back out, I was the same as you about 2 yes ago, having them out was the best thing I did. Drs have since told me that the general malaise I was feeling was partly down to the toxins my noxious (my word not Drs) tonsils were putting into my body causing me to feel low. Can't tell you how much better I feel since they were removedGrin

giraffesCantZumba · 21/06/2011 18:38
