AIBU to think the foul language and vulgar tone of these threads is just too much

During the last few days the foul language, just a quick skim through the AIBU headings reveals such awful words, has been such that I don't think I will be coming back again too often. Mumsnet - Middle Class - Parenting orientated - really, is it really? Vulgar, nasty, ill mannered, spring more easily to mind. What a shame.

What kind of person would have their children looking at their posts anyway and why were there so many posts deleted? Have the moderators had an irony bypass?
Swearing is like smoking; it's clever, it's sexy and it adds to the gaiety of nations.
I grew up in Belfast where it is an art form. We even split other words so we can insert an expletive in the middle, eg abso-fucking-lutely.
Can someone explain the goats thing to me?

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 16/06/2011 02:27

Goats: all benefit recipients are evil scroungers who take away the hard-earned goats of the deserving taxpayer.

Ah, thanks- I saw that thread but was disappointed that pensioners got off the hook.

ColdHeartedBitch · 16/06/2011 05:18

this was sooo not the thread to read at stupid oclock after a far too fabulous night. I am sooo going to be paying for all the fun later but good to see that MN is starting to settle back down into its own unique state of normal craziness Grin

Good cunting night to you all.

ColdHeartedBitch · 16/06/2011 05:18

Perhaps that should be good cunting morning to you all.

AnyFucker · 16/06/2011 07:15

of course !

re. the perve's detailed blow-by-blow account of his compulsive wanking habits, MNHQ emailed back to say they wouldn't be deleting it as it didn't break any actual rules

lovely

sausagesandmarmelade · 16/06/2011 07:25

Why don't you think about how your kids would think of you if they could see what you actually wrote behind your hidden identities. It's all very well to be brave behind a nickname here on Mumsnet but I doubt that you're calling fellow mums at the school gate the names you chuck about here to other mums, other women. It's actually rather disgusting.

Oh excellent post vagabond...
I'm sure Mumsnet will fast be losing any 'respect' it might of had (if it ever did have any).

I don't think it's at all representative of society as all whole...and just demonstrations the pit falls of allowing swear words on a forum. Instead of people using an occasional expletive to elaborate on a comment...posts instead become littered with them generally.
Which just goes to prove that you DO need moderation....as some people are not adult enough here to moderate themselves!

usualsuspect · 16/06/2011 07:27

The day MN gets moderators is the day I leave

sausagesandmarmelade · 16/06/2011 07:38

There's something really sad that a bunch of parents having nothing better to do than sit on their computers (after the kids have been sent to bed) hammering away as many insults/expletives that they can think of on this forum....because they (presumably) have nothing more constructive to do...
Sadder still that that is their source of fun/entertainment!

But then...maybe they don't have jobs to get up to of a morning....and aren't in meaningful loving relationships perhaps?

sausagesandmarmelade · 16/06/2011 07:40

I don't like over moderation but this sight has gone the other way.......and people have abused their freedom to swear.

To the detriment of Mumsnet.....

Hullygully · 16/06/2011 08:08

tsk tsk tsk

Primalscream · 16/06/2011 08:14

s&m - agree: Swearing is ok in moderation ( a fuck here and there isn't going to bother too many people ) but it's turning into a swearing competition now and it's embarrassing-

I honestly don't believe men, or even children, would act in this way - what is it about ( some) grown women that they have to behave in this way (( rolls eyes ))

Chandon · 16/06/2011 08:16

Could someone recommend me a nice website where you don't get beaten up for being middle class by the way?

I used to love badmothersclub, but you have to pay now to use it, and it got very small.

CheerfulYank · 16/06/2011 08:22

I only ever call people See You Next Tuesdays.

And I'm not middle class because we're desperately poor. But we're clever and well-manered so I think we pull of genteel shabbiness quite well. :o

CheerfulYank · 16/06/2011 08:24

I just laughed myself sick at calling myself clever and then having a blatant misspell two words later.

I think it's time I went to bed. :)

this thread is fuckdiddly funny. i mean the op must have i know this would happen and did so to make everyones hump night a bit funnier.

ViolaTricolor · 16/06/2011 08:41

I think women who use certain words on the internet should have the letters 'MN' stitched to their clothing, so we know to avoid them in real life. Otherwise they might get away with passing for normal.

Pumpernickel10 · 16/06/2011 09:04

So me is not normal? Goody as I didn't want to be!
I'm freak la chic folks :)

Oh and I do lead a relatively great life, I don't come in here for bordem once DD is in bed I come on here as I like it :)
Liking something and doing something out of sheer borderm is very different.
Off to take poorly pooch to the vets :(
If it wasn't for lastnights laughs I'd be crying right now

UrsulaBuffay · 16/06/2011 09:11

The same sad parents who swear on certain threads are those who have helped knit blankets for other posters who have had bereavements, they have posted advice to those in dire straits, they have offered food and money to people who had nothing & not expected anything back.

So get off your fucking high horses.

CheerfulYank · 16/06/2011 09:14

Fuckin' right Ursula !
