I need opinions asap!

I have painted the outside of my front door a new blue colour. I was planning to paint the inside of the front door white. However, DP has just chipped in that this is stupid, the whole door must be blue. My thoughts are that when the door is closed white is brighter plus blue doesn't go with decor ... not hideous but white is neutral and blends in.

So should the front and back fo the door be the same colour or is it acceptable to have the inside only white?

Please give opinions!

Two front doors. Inside of both is white, outside green. Your DH is just wrong!

AnyFuleKno · 15/06/2011 20:02

Mine is blue inside and out! I never thought it was weird until now...another decor related neurosis for the collection

cerealqueen · 15/06/2011 20:03

Newish door, Ggreen outside, white inside and all the doors we could have chosen had white inside. Won't a coloured door inside make your hallway quite dark?

AnyFuleKno · 15/06/2011 20:05

Mine is in a porch..it would look really weird White, can't imagine it

LittlebearH · 15/06/2011 20:09

I used to sell them to national housebuillders and housing associations.
ALWAYS ALWAYS white on the inside!

(if glazed, always paint the cassette the same colour of the door. SO many are left white to go yellow over time)

Blatherskite · 15/06/2011 21:02

What's a cassette?

I mean on a door. I'm guessing LittlebearH wasn't selling doors with old mix tapes stuck to them :)

bigbadbarry · 15/06/2011 21:03

Black inside and out! Yay me! (Or is that weird?)

LittlebearH · 15/06/2011 21:05

Ha!
It is the frame around the glass. On composite/steel/wood effect type doors.

Fasinating stuff eh?!! Grin

CurlyBoy · 15/06/2011 21:07

Yep, he's wrong. Ours is blue outside and white inside. It's uPVC and came from the factory that way! We also have internal doors that are different colours on each side to match the room.

UniS · 15/06/2011 21:08

inside -white
outside
Dark green

BsshBossh · 15/06/2011 21:28

Black outside, white inside (to match interior and to keep hallway bright).

AandK · 15/06/2011 21:34

white inside brightens the room don't ask men about decor its like asking which shoes will go with a certain dress!!!

Glitterknickaz · 15/06/2011 22:12

White and white.
It's a metal door though,.

whackamole · 15/06/2011 22:29

Mine is black on the outside and wood on the inside.

YANBU!

OddBoots · 15/06/2011 22:42

House buying a few years ago we looked around a house with uPVC windows that were wood effect/brown outside and white inside, it looked odd. Painted doors are a different matter though.

blackeyedsusan · 15/06/2011 23:46

maroon outside (standard flat colour for all doors here)
white inside

is dh is very unobservant or doesn't have any friends to visit?

Pandemoniaa · 15/06/2011 23:54

Ours is light gooseberry outside and white inside. It's never occurred to me that the two sides were supposed to match.

Mooshie · 16/06/2011 13:49

Cerise outside and black inside, cos all my internal doors are black. I'm a bit trendy me.

DirtyMartini · 16/06/2011 14:01

Please ask your DH why he thinks this - I am curious as to where he got this mad notion.

(agree with everyone else obv)

superjobeespecs · 16/06/2011 14:07

red outside and white-ish inside. men are silly Grin

CurrySpice · 16/06/2011 14:17

isseywithcats · 16/03/2018 21:39

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 16/03/2018 21:41

My door is navy blue outside, white inside. Blue inside would be far too dark....
