Can anyone advice me on where to go now reference my future?

My youngest dd starts school next year so I will be in a postion to do more hours,although not at the job I do now ,I currently do a four day week 3 hours a day, then all day Saturday(8),

I would like to give up my Saturday job,to spend more times with my kids and dp at the weekends ,my options are stick with the hours I do at present in a school,holidays paid for,getting a job on Friday's giving the Saturday up.

Or go full time and find a childminder to look after kids after school and in term time?.

What would you do as Mil has offered to have kids,problem is I would have to pay her and she would have 4 kids at one time twice a week and she goes away a lot.

We also are looking to buy a house in the near future although at present I dont earn enough.

Any advice would be good I know its a long way of but I need to plan ahead.

i find it slightly sad that your mil would charge you so she can look after her own grandchildren. but then i don't know the situation and i don't exactly have a great track record with my own mil so don't listen to me!

Well round here before and after school care is £15 per child per day. £5 per hour per child during school holidays. Depending on how many kids you have, it sometimes isn't worth working full-time, unless it's a very good salary.

I think I would keep a look out for another term-time only job with more hours - say 9.30-2.30. Or just do the full day on Fridays?

I'm working weekdays 9.30am to 1pm and that works quite well. I use our annual leave and a cminder during the holidays. Have about an hour and a half to myself or to do housework before school pick up. But I only have one dd so the holiday childcare is manageable.

Thanks Mossip I love the job I do at the moment,But like I said I want to give up the second job on the Saturday,working the 8 hours on the Friday instead somewhere else,I would need to arrange childcare before school and after school aand in the holidays.

Yes, I used to work Saturdays and you do miss out on things. Hope you find something.

Why shouldn't your MIL charge? I don't understand why people think they have a right to free childcare from their parents/in laws.

She has a right to charge and I dont expect anything for free,but I would not use her tbh Callisto because I want to have a right to say what I expected for my children,without her being offended ,I want it to be about the kids and not for her doing it for the money.

Also she is would look after her two other grankids on a few occasions and I think its to much for her.

I also want to remain friends and think it would be better in the long run to choose a childminder to save me from the headache.
