AIBU?

to think this about modern Feminism?

I AM a Feminist, but by God over the last few decades has it radicalised a lot of people to believe the very worst of men and to see women as victims at every turn. These are the people that are ruining Feminism IMO, and making many young women want to have nothing to do with it, which is a terrible shame.

Do you agree or not? ONE post each please. (otherwise I think it will veer off-topic or derailed) I will make no further posts, just conducting a survey as it were.

The Equality Illusion is a fantastic and up-to-date book D0gface. You can probably read the intro using 'look inside' on the Amazon page.
Living Dolls is another good one.

there have been some excellent threads defining/discussing it recently but I'll leave it someone else to link to those.

I asked posters to make only one post. I said please. That's not dictating, I have no power to do that. But derail the whole thread, don't answer the question, call me a poo-head, whatever. I'm not the one it makes look stupid... and yes I broke my own one post rule cos so many other people have.

Thread derailed, Oh well, that'll teach me for asking a reasonable question.

d0gface, ?I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is; I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat?

OP, YABU.

how on earth can you have a debate if you are only allowed one post each Confused

I said it was more of a survey. I explained that I didn't want a debate, as these tend to get derailed and dominated by a few people. I wanted a 'mass show of hands' from members whether they broadly agreed or disagreed with the way I felt, or somewhere in between. One post each should be enough to do that.

And you know why? because I know I am not the only woman or mum that thinks that. If 99% of Mumsnetters think differently, I will assume the site is not representative of a wide range of mothers/womens opinions.

I don't actually think there's anything wrong in asking for one post each, I think it's an interesting exercise. I mean we have plenty of debates, this would make it something a bit different.
