To have had plastic surgery in the past

Going on from a thread about a gastric band got me thinking if money was no object and you was unhappy would you succumb to the surgeons knife.
I had a nose job a few years ago, looking at it now it's made no difference to my life yes it looks great better than my hook nose but it's not changed my life.

Even if I had the money (I once did) I haven't got the guts. But I'd love to have a bit of work done. I'm just too scardy.

worraliberty · 06/06/2011 22:57

But you could have guts surgically implanted Grin

Thingumy · 06/06/2011 23:00

I knew someone who had a nosejob due to her awful nasal disorder (snoring and loads of issues) ,made a difference to her.

I'd have a chemical peel as I have awful skin and a nose job (broken nose).

I may contemplate a boob job being a 34A.

I know dh would have his thread veins sorted out.

I may partake in a bit a filler as I need it

I plan on having both a tummy tuck and breast augmentation once we have had our second child.

nijinsky · 06/06/2011 23:05

Speaking as someone who had cosmetic surgery following a cycling accident, I would have to say no. The swelling you get post-operatively inicates how intrusive any kind of surgery is for your body, there is always scar tissue and from an aesthetic point of view, most examples of cosmetic surgery tend to distort the features in an unnatural way, unless it is very minor or non-invasive cosmetic procedures.

That said, I would do it for something that verges on a medical issue. e.g. severe eye bags, a broken nose, etc..

Fake boobs have to be the worst thing out. They don't look nice and I'm sure they can't feel nice, and anyway they are simply lumps of silicon. You might as well stick a sign on top of your head saying "thick bimbo and proud".

springbokscantjump · 06/06/2011 23:08

Ah nijinsky you just need the right surgeon. The good ones bristle at the ridiculous breast implants that are done privately. A skilled surgeon will select an implant that both fits your frame and can be accomodated by your soft tissue already present.

nijinsky · 06/06/2011 23:18

I don't need any surgeon, thanks. I'm very happy with my body the way it is! (I also suspect that if I got two bits of silicon implanted in me to bounce around, I might be so deterred from running that my body may not long stay a way in which I was happy with it).

extremepie · 06/06/2011 23:20

I would like to have a nose job, as I hit myself in the face with a tennis racket when I was about 14 (stupid!) and my nose has never been the same. It functions perfectly well as a nose but wouldn't mind it looking nice for a change :(

Babies have destroyed my belly, I feel quite deformed by it :(

I think a tummy tuck at this point would really change my life as my confidence would increase 100-fold, sadly lack of funds means I just have to deal with it!

springbokscantjump · 06/06/2011 23:25

Sorry Nijinsky didn't mean that you personally need a surgeon Blush more that the fake boob look is not a given. Sorry!

nijinsky · 06/06/2011 23:30

No offence taken!

BulletWithAName · 06/06/2011 23:34

I've had three nose jobs.. It's still not perfect and it never will be, but it's a lot better post-ops then pre-ops.

I will be having a tummy tuck in the near future. I'm sick of looking disgusting.

midori1999 · 06/06/2011 23:47

I've had three cosmetic surgeries, two breast augmentations and a tummy tuck, plus some lipo.

I didn't for one second expect any of it to change my life, just to alter how I looked, which it did, to a way I personally prefer.

My boobs have gone from a 34A to a 36GG but they still look very natural. In fact, maybe a bit too natural for my liking, but I never expected perfection and am happy with them.

Again, tummy was an improvement on what was there before, but not perfect and neithber had I expected it to be. Have since been pregnant with twins and am now pregnant again, so not sure what it will look like after... Grin

I wouldn't completely rule out more surgery in the future, but at the moment I don't feel like I'd want any more and my outlook on things is a bit different to when I had the surgery initially I suppose.

FabbyChic · 06/06/2011 23:50

My son is going to give me 20k in five years to have plastic surgery, Im having my bags done, my boobs lifted, and maybe a face lift if I have enough money.

Al0uiseG · 07/06/2011 00:18

Veins are being done in the winter, Botox is booked and I quite fancy a thread lift.

I would have liposculpture but the weight is dropping away nicely at the moment so hopefully I won't need it.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 07/06/2011 00:24

I have a gp appointment in the morning to request a breast reduction. Am 32H Sad and have had enough of the weight, the pain and discomfort, the inability to run, the people talking to my chest... I could go on...
Fingers crossed.

BulletWithAName · 07/06/2011 00:25

Good luck Septimus, I hope you get it!

FizzyMakeFeelNice · 07/06/2011 00:26

I had a breast reduction 7 years ago, and only (slightly) regretted it when I was unable to breast feed, but I had it at 19, and never thought about babies at the time. I went from a 34G to a 34C and I have to say, it did improve my life. Back pain vanished, confidence improved, and I was able to buy clothes that fit properly for the first time in years.

I would do it again tomorrow.

ScaredyDog · 07/06/2011 00:28

34A to a 36GG midori? Sorry, not to be rude, that just shocked me. Was that intentional?

FizzyMakeFeelNice · 07/06/2011 00:28

Cross post. Septimus, I got mine through my GP too, if your boobs are causing physical pain you have more of a chance of getting it. Good luck!

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 07/06/2011 00:57

If I had the money I would like my very own, on site (of course), mad scientist to invent a suck all the fat out with no pain and no scarring machine. If someone could get on that...? No..? bastards...

Will await the "wake up a size 8 forever" pill with anticipation then.

mrswhiskerson · 07/06/2011 01:05

I would like botox on my forehead because I seem to have a frown all the time and i do a lot reading which I dont think helps.
I would aslo like a boob job because ever since I had ds I Hate how they look now . I would only go for the most natural implants just enough to put back the volume. Because I am skint however I am working on getting the rest of my body in good shape and my DH always says he thinks I am lovely just as I am. He is really against botox too.

I think surgery can be really good if it is done for the right reasons and gives a person their confidence back. You find when a person gains more confidence they start improving other aspects of their lives too. I am against it when people think they have too or because they feel pressured into having to maintain a youthful look or do to please their other half.

midori1999 · 07/06/2011 20:17

scaredydog, well, it certainly wasn't accidental. I wanted to be at least a FF the second time I had it done and am very happy to be bigger than that. Oddly, they obviously look big, but they don't look 'comedy' huge, I love, love, love them! I also have quite a large backside, so they balance me out. Grin

SybilBeddows · 07/06/2011 20:21

I would never do it, no way.
I look fine and the way people look isn't that important anyway.
