To think that if I had abducted a child in a very high profile case a few years ago I would have at least changed the Childs name before going to the local play barn?

was with a friends child who has the same name as abducted child.

Whenever I called her name people actually turned and started before whispering between themselves.

Talk about feeling awkward!

I actually feel for parents who have this on a daily basis ( not as much as the Childs family of course!)

Pag - am slowly losing the will to mumsnet Grin

Pagwatch · 06/06/2011 22:16
Shock

I don't know what to say.

Are there no drugs you could take?

I have found drinking heavily and saying cunt more than is strictly necessary helps my enjoyment of mn enormously

hester · 06/06/2011 22:17

MN has gone absolutely flippin bonkers, hasn't it Grin

Pagwatch · 06/06/2011 22:17

I think Adolph is poised for a comeback. Anyday now. Mark my words. And Jeremy

I have given Adolf a new lease of life with Adolph. It will be all the rage.

And Stahline.

I need to put the rose back in the fridge don't I?

Panzee · 06/06/2011 22:20

There will be people on Baby Names worried that Adolf/ph is "too popular".

pranma · 06/06/2011 22:21

I have a granddaughter called Madeleine who is exactly the same age as MM-same month birthday, blonde, blue eyes but no one ever looks twice-it just made us all find the abduction especially poignant and painful from a 'what if...' viewpoint.

shineoncrazydiam0nd · 06/06/2011 22:22

I may recover in time.

slowly.

redpanda13 · 06/06/2011 22:24

Maybe one day Myra will make a comeback. My aunt always gets a short, akward silence when she tells anyone her name is Myra. She has never felt she could dye her hair blonde.

Pagwatch · 06/06/2011 22:26

Panzer
I am going to monitor baby names being sniffy about the made up Adolph spelling...

Pagwatch · 06/06/2011 22:27

Panzer?

LadyBeagleEyes · 06/06/2011 22:31

I've decided after a few months on mn now that there are an awful lot of people out there with a very weird and wonderful ? thought process.
Or maybe it's me Confused.

LoopyLoopsBettyBoops · 06/06/2011 22:33

Goodness, there are a lot of dim confused people on this thread!

IAmTheCookieMonster · 06/06/2011 22:39

Shannon was found at her uncle's house, she was then taken into care. I thought Shannon from this thread not Maddie.

Friendlymum67 · 06/06/2011 22:48

Stumbled across this thread after stumbling across mumsnet. Whilst Madeline McCann is a heartbreaking story, this thread made me laugh SO much!! So much so I even registered with mumsnet tonight. I am a single parent who needs some light relief in the evenings - I think I've found it!! :)

InWithTheITCrowd · 06/06/2011 22:50

I think Shannon Matthews is practically a teenager now - so maybe that's why people would stare at soft play? Wink

hester · 06/06/2011 22:51

Welcome, Friendlymum67 Smile

Pandemoniaa · 06/06/2011 22:59

The moral of the story is...

....consult a psychic before naming your child. That way you avoid the chance that little Tarquin Ffortescue is ever going to be confused with an abducted child. Unless you've consulted a crap psychic that is.

Fifis25StottieCakes · 06/06/2011 23:07

How could her parents change her name before she went in the playbarn.
How would the conversation go....right when your in here your names Fanny. Dont tell anyone your name and remember if i shout Fanny i am talking to you...wtf

Fifis25StottieCakes · 06/06/2011 23:09

Friendlymum i would get your name changed (remove the numbers)Grin

Pagwatch · 06/06/2011 23:11

I will name any future child Minge.

No embarrassing mistaken identity there.

Pandemoniaa · 06/06/2011 23:15

She'll thank you for that, pagwatch. Grin

I think I'd go for "Pudenda" since Minge is a mere snatch of a name.

Pagwatch · 06/06/2011 23:21

Ha ha Grin

please put Pudenda on babynames....

Pudenda, sister to Adolph.

My perfect family
