to wear my wedding dress as a guest at a friends wedding?

I don't want to look like a lunatic Miss Havisham type, but I haven't the time or money to buy a new dress for an upcoming wedding, so was thinking maybe I could just wear the dress I wore to mine.

My wedding dress was not white. It's dark gold, and in fact an evening dress, not a bridal dress.

However. The said friend did come to my wedding and therefore might recognise it (especially as my FB profile picture is a wedding one). If she does will she think me a crazy person or be offended?

Yay or nay?

I think it's great OP that you are planning to (re)use the dress.

googietheegg · 05/06/2011 15:59

I think it depends how you accessorise it - deffo not the same hair etc as you had on your wedding day (well, not same hair style, the same actual hairs is inevitable). If you have a pashmina/shrug/cardi type thing and different not too fancy shoes and hair down then I think it'll be fine. Basically you want to cover up the dress a bit so it doesn';t look the same as on your wedding day. And don't carry flowers or have a small child following behind you holding the back.

That dress is ok. Not even a little bridesmaidy.

OP, are you me?

I was thinking of doing this, my dress was irredescent teal and floor length but I'm going to alter it to cocktail length.

Very interested to read replies and thanks for starting thread so I didn't have to.

I think that dress in your link would be fine.

well she'll know it's your wedding dress cos she was there when you got married. and so will anyone else who was there or knows you on FB but if it doesn't bother either of you then go for it. Personally knowing that they would all know would be enough to put me off wearing it.
