Wedding Present, I don't want to give money towards ...............

I know there are often posts from people with gripes about paying money towards the Bride & Grooms honeymoon etc (have mixed feeling on this myself) but to all those who have been asked to contribute towards a luxury holiday (which I've been asked to do in the past) count yourself lucky you weren't invited to THIS wedding! So nasty and well... tacky IMO.

If people ASK for money as a present, I NEVER give it. If you can't afford to get married - don't! My DS's peers who might have a party and ask for money; well they get a present too and you should see the looks on their Dear Mother's faces.

People will always get an original present from me. I appreciate it might go in the attic for the next 50 years, but I was brought up to believe it is the height of bad manners to ask for money as a present.

Interestingly, I will ALWAYS give money to my lovely nephews for B'day presents (only 'cos they're at Uni though and probably could use it)

Awful, simply tacky.

I usually decline weddings that ask for cash and certainly wouldnt have attended or given money for this cause.

diabolo I think you're a long lost relative, one of DH relatives (never met them) invited us to their (lavish) wedding & asked for ££ towards a honeymoon in lieu of presents. They didn't get anything & DH wouldn't let me go 'incase I said something'. So tacky!
