to wonder how many of you are friends in Real Life?

Lots of posters on here seem to know an awful lot about each other, for instance, when and where people are on holiday, their day-to-day activities, and other really personal things from people's pasts.

Is this what you have picked up from each other over years of using MN or are some of you good friends in the real world?

No mn friends. No rl friends. On here I mean. I like the anonymity.

Oh, no, there are only ten of us really, we are all mates, we just change names a lot, to make things look busy.

I have a good memory for some stuff/some posters - especially the prolific ones or the ones with memorable names. Mostly though it's a 'feeling' more than specific details.

I am RL email friends with a couple of others
I am PM friends with a few

... and I'll chat to most anyone on here, my 'oh do fuck off' list is quite small :)

Some people are friends in RL, there are few siblings or other relations on here too. A lot of the time though it is just people who have been here a long time. When you've been here a number of years it is normal to start remmebring things about a poster and perhaps having a little chat when you see each other on a thread jsut as you would do the same with another school gate mum once youve been bumping into each other over a few years even if you are not friends.

I don't know anyone on here in RL. I know RL people who use mumsnet, but I don't know their MN names and I'd be horrified if they knew mine! How can you post embarrassing stuff if people know who you are?

There is one mumsnetter who I know in RL thats all.

I don't know anyone in RL who use mumsnet and I never get any PMs either.

I don't know anyone in RL who is on MN (or vice versa). I know several people in RL who are on NetMums which I find quite strange although I think they use if mostly for local info.

OK - thanks. I only asked as there were some people on a thread in Education earlier who clearly had been to some event at their DC's school and obviously knew each other.
