I applied for a grands worth and it seems I have won something thats Ive figured out is probably football.

Ive got teenage relatives in New Zealand that have been looking forward to coming over here for a month next year for the olympics. They applied for thousands of pounds (whatever it is in New Zealand) worth and got not one sniff, which is very sad.

The thing is my mother and the rest of my family just assume Im giving my tickets to them!!! Fair enough if it is the football but at the time I applied these relatives did not even register in my mind, I just thought it would be a cool thing to go to as its on my doorstep and I would try my luck.

What annoys me is that I emailed them the link for those abroad to go to for tickets and they never even replied. Brats.

YANBU - they are your tickets to do with as you please, not the teenagers or the rest of your family. Just remember that No is a complete sentence

Just don't give them to your relatives. They don't have any more moral right to them that you do just because they are coming from NZ. The olympics is still only going to happen in London once in our lifetime.

Well, I dont know if its spoilt or not. I only know them from their facebook pages. Sailing around the Greek Islands, clubbing in Bali with their equally rich teenage mates, going to the world cup. That was in one year. Parents salt of the earth. Never even thanked me when I emailed them the link and said good luck. I mean why didnt someone put afew grand in my account and ask me to try for them? I bet they never even tried themselves very hard.

Its abt blinking cheeky if you ask me and, yes, it is my mother who has probably already told them they can have my paltry two.

Keep them they are yours, sod the others.

If it gets mentioned, proclaim your admiration at your mother's generosity in giving away her own tickets. And if anybody suggests giving away yours, tell them you don't have spares, but luckily your mother seems to have some of her own put by.

Though Tbh , from your post it's not clear that you rellies have asked for tickets, nor that your mum has explicitly promised them yours.

tell her that unless she has her own tickets then she cant be giving them away they are yours you paid for them and got a set from millions of people who applied so you can do what you want with them its like if you and your new zeland family both played the lottery if you won and they didnt you wouldnt give your ticket to them just because they wanted to win would you no its the luck of the draw so your mum should butt out

keep them! or perhaps offer to the NZ rellies in exchange for an all expenses paid trip to NZ? which would you prefer? if they really really really want to go to the olympics they will happily pay your fare and put you up as i guess thats about equal to the cost of them paying for tickets????(have no idea on ticket prices whatsoever but a grand for two tickets???)

They'll have another chance to get tickets when people start offloading the ones they don't want. Tell them there's been some sort of miscommunication and you're using yours if it comes up.

They can't use them anyway - I believe that the person applied for the tickets (primary ticket holder) has to be in attendance at the event for the tickets to be accepted.

You can buy them online for loads of events if you're abroad (and in fact if you're in the UK). Why don't they just buy their own tickets? Dertour.de I think it is.

Ditto Sleep - The Olympic man was on the box, they cannot be sold on/passed on and they will be 'watching sites' (ie eBay/Amazon) very carefully. Mind you if they are as lax as football grounds all our mates rotate season tickets - so that no guarantee!

She'd better untell them they can have your two tickets, pronto. I do love people who are generous with other people's things.

I thought there was going to be an official site launched in the New Year for people to sell unwanted tickets? They can wait for that.

It is completely legit as far as I'm aware. It was in the sunday times. its the official german seller. you can get the site up in english too.

Detour.de is part of a large travel company, I think. The site is definitely legit, I used to live in Germany and know the company.
