I walked past the house of a family who I do know but not terribly well and I am aware there middle daughter is being bullied.

outside was a group of girls looking in through their window shouting and jeering and swearing. I know the mum works some afternoons so I did intervien and tell the group of girls to leave them alone and move away from the house...in hindsight a bit silly of me as I did have my 5 yr old dd with me, but I wasn't in any way afraid forour safety or anything. Turns out the mum was home and she also then came out. They took the message and went away, but then followed me up the street shouting and swearing and berating me. It was laughable really but attempted to call non emergency police no just to show the little shits they can get away with behaving like this, but my bloody mobile died on me.

Anyway I have been trying to call the school since 3.30 and no one has been available to take my call, and have just now been told all senior management staff left at 4.15 and receptionist cant locate any other teaching staff. no one will be in over half term. now I m shocked that the head did not pick up his answer messages before leaving the school for a whole week, I had left one message at 3.30 and one at 4pm. I find it hard to even believe the head of a secondary school would even finish at 4.15.

Im tempted to call the non emergancy no again to give the message to the school this not acceptable, but Im sure this is very little the police would even be able to do.

also I want to say bunch of little bitches how horrible for a group of girls to behave like this!!!!!

The Mail is always on the trail of 'howling hypocrisy'.

TheFlyingOnion · 28/05/2011 21:32

okay I presume you're being ironic here?

or do you really care about the contents of a politician's dustbin?

And none of the stuff in the first line means a thing to me - don't read the papers and don't have a TV. I'm blissfully unaware of most of the tripe which is apparently "news".

claig · 28/05/2011 21:41

I'm with sensible Mail readers. Here are some of their comments:

'Animal Farm springs to mind- all are equal but some are more equal than others. From memory, it was the pigs who ended up more equal than others. What a similarity to our Labour rulers - Do as we tell you, not as we do ourselves!

'One rule for them, another for us? Sounds about right.'

'My 4 and 8 year old children are well aware of the recycling options and if in any doubt they always ask me which bin/box their waste goes in. To blame their children for their lazy hypocritical behaviour is really low.'

I'm surprised you don't read the papers. How will you know when they pull the old stunts like '50 days left to save the planet'?

TheFlyingOnion · 28/05/2011 21:44

I guess I'll just go up in flames at the allotted time and not waste my last few days on earth worrying about it!

I'm overseas, so no possibility of daily newspapers, and tbh I'm not interested enough to follow much news on the internet. Plus you have to pay for timesonline now.

Haven't had a TV for years - it was very liberating until I found MN, now I just waste time browse on here of an evening... Smile

claig · 28/05/2011 21:48

They'll be no flames, the planet will survive, they are just pulling their stunts.

But, in a way, you are right to cut yourself off from TV and papers, because much of it is depressing propaganda. MN is better. You get all views on here. I find Beesimo's perspective interesting and not something that you will find in the papers.

claig · 28/05/2011 21:49

There'll be no flames

TheFlyingOnion · 28/05/2011 21:51

there are certainly a few interesting viewpoints on here...

but MN is a time black-hole... hours fly by and I've done nothing!!

On that note, 'tis bedtime in my neck of the woods.

actually, one last thing. I love how on MN you can have a screaming disagreement with someone one day and the very next a really pleasant chat with the same person..... Grin

night!

claig · 28/05/2011 21:56

In the words of the legendary scottishmummy (is she still around? haven't seen her anywhere), MN royalty if ever there was one, "it's just words on a screen".

Good night. See you back at the coal face tomorrow. Grin

I haven't accused the Roma or the travellers of anything of the sort. I said that is what often happens when you get a society that regulates itself without recourse to the law of the land. The instances I have first hand experience of happened between Bengali and Pakistani families who lived in a very poor area and were mostly first generation immigrants. They brought their clan structures and village laws with them.
The same with the mining community I lived in as a child in the 60s, where wife-beating and gay-bashing were accepted weekend activities.
Where have I written that these are unique to the travelling community?

Goblinchild · 29/05/2011 08:12

''Teachers' like you are the reason most Romany/Traveller heritage bairns don't go to school long. We are peaceful people until struck against and you are a troublemaking damned liar.'

I was one of the very few teachers who did peripatetic outreach teaching at our local camp as a voluntary after-school task. I was welcomed and the children learnt basic literacy and numeracy on site.

Goblinchild · 29/05/2011 08:14

In fact, I'm quite irritated now, so I'm reporting your post as a personal attack.

beesimo · 29/05/2011 08:15

Goblinchild

Why don't you just go and join the BNP I am sure they will be thrilled to see thee.

Goblinchild · 29/05/2011 08:17

Are you usually this wildly irrational?

beesimo · 29/05/2011 08:18

Goblinchild

You can dish it out non stop but you can't take it.

Tell me is the Gob above critisism?

Goblinchild · 29/05/2011 08:23

Quote me where I accused the travelling community of anrthing rather than making an observation about the possible consequences of having a self-regulating community that decides what is and is not acceptable.
You have decided a lot of things about me that are wrong, and if I was in your village I'd be facing a lot of harm as a teacher at the local school purely because of your opinions which are based on your misinterpretation of my words.
Would I then have my windows broken and slogans painted on my walls, and my children spat on because of their parent? Would my man be told to keep his woman under control? This is not a reference to the travelling community either, just what happens when someone is deemed unacceptable by the community they live in.

beesimo · 29/05/2011 08:42

Goblinchild

SEE there you go again inferring we would do bad things to you and yours we would LAUGH at you do you seriously think anything you said would matter in clanny. You wouldn't be a danger or a threat you would be what you are.

We we're the poets and seers of Europe when the gorja we're living in trees picking the lice outta their fur. That's one of our crack backs btw write it in thy little book cos ive no doubt that by teatime you'll have EXTENSIVE knowledge of all things Rom in fact you'll probably be telling me what grade of Rom I am.

Ohh thats been done before I think they were called the Nazis. Not that I would put you in with them because you wouldn't gas us would thee your 'nice middle class teacher lady' you'd just see our culture and sense of self destroyed in the name of progress!

But you will never succeed now because we are not poor folk living in vans anymore.

TheFlyingOnion · 29/05/2011 08:48

I leave this thread for a few minutes and look what happens!

Calm down, beesimo, I took Goblinchild's post (as I'm sure it was intended) as a general point. No-one is suggesting anything about the traveller community.

In fact, when I read GC's post it brought to mind an incident in my home town when a man started yelling at my brother about the clothes he was wearing. My brother had moved out of the town (down to that London) and was therefore seen as different.

So I agree with GC, and you are being touchy in thinking the post was aimed solely at you. Nazis??? Sheesh....

BTW that nice little story about working in the 'local camp' get your lingo right when thy tells a tale if you had every set foot in one you'd know it would be called a 'site' not a 'camp. Shan shan shan

We're not keen on the word 'camp' I think it may have something to do with Aushwitz and the like

TheFlyingOnion · 29/05/2011 09:02

beesimo will you calm the fuck down please and read the replies to your post?

NestaFiesta · 29/05/2011 09:04

Um, is this still about the school not being open at 4.30?

TheFlyingOnion · 29/05/2011 09:08

Nesta, it hasn't been about that for about the last 12 pages... got a bit sidetracked Smile

claig · 29/05/2011 09:09

beesimo, I don't think Goblinchild meant any harm. I understand why you think she did, because Romanys and travellers are often accused of being lawless by those who don't know about them and want them to conform. But many people think the state is better at prividing protection. They don't think the state would ever hurt them. They sometimes forget the Nazis and the communists and advocates of forced vaccination etc.

I don't think Goblinchild is anti Romanys.
