To cut a long boring story short, we are now stuck deciding between two houses. DH knows which one he wants; I need more opinions...

House A is on the road we currently live on, the Nicest in the Villaaage, all leafy etc
House B is on the second nicest road, nearer the Main Road

House A is a 4 bed semi
House B is detached, 5 bed

House A has a big back garden and a small drive
House B has a very big front garden (because it's a southfacing plot) and a huge drive

House A is pretty and Victorian
House B is a bit less pretty and Edwardian

House A would mean keeping our lovely neighbours
House B may well have lovely new neighbours

House A costs x
House B costs x plus £25k

Any thoughts?

House A definitely

The big front garden of House B seems a waste of land to me, I would feel on show if using it, and therefore, would not use it as much. Also there would be pressure (imagined or real) to keep the front garden up together as it on display, whereas the back garden you could let go hang if you wanted!

For me the only thing that seems to be going for House B is that it is detached and has the extra bedroom - but do you really need 5 bedrooms? Wouldn't it just end up as dumping ground?

House B. It's gorgeous, detatched, and has solar panels - when the oil runs out in a few years you will still be able to turn the lights on!

kw1986 · 27/05/2011 06:22

House B BUT only if the front garden has privacy... Who wants to sunbathe or run around with the kids like an idiot if every joe bloggs that walks past can see you! lol

So House A if House B doesn't have that privacy.

Gandalfthedyed · 27/05/2011 08:48

I think detached is such a bonus it could almost be a no brainer.

( I can't see where you live to snoop do some research on Rightmove Sad)

mistressploppy · 27/05/2011 13:08

Sorry Gandalf, I took my home town off my profile after Speedy pointed out that it's a bit daft to have it AND a pic of our (maybe) future house on there.

And I'm a bit worried that TSC might come round and duff me up

HettyAmaretti · 16/06/2011 08:22

yes, please do, I've been wondering too.

(Probably posted on here under a different name, can't be arsed to check.)

emsies · 16/06/2011 08:28

Wow both houses look huge and amazing!!! I'm jealous!

It sounds like you prefer house though.

It does sound like either way you're not going to have a bad one :)

ThePrincessRoyalFiggyrolls · 16/06/2011 08:38

House B, detached all the way - you can then sunbathe nude in the garden if you so desire.

Now - why were you in your work clothes and didn't have time to take them off - have been nosing on the profile again [sigh]

breatheslowly · 16/06/2011 09:25

I'd go for B - it's great having a detached house.
