To cut a long boring story short, we are now stuck deciding between two houses. DH knows which one he wants; I need more opinions...

House A is on the road we currently live on, the Nicest in the Villaaage, all leafy etc
House B is on the second nicest road, nearer the Main Road

House A is a 4 bed semi
House B is detached, 5 bed

House A has a big back garden and a small drive
House B has a very big front garden (because it's a southfacing plot) and a huge drive

House A is pretty and Victorian
House B is a bit less pretty and Edwardian

House A would mean keeping our lovely neighbours
House B may well have lovely new neighbours

House A costs x
House B costs x plus £25k

Any thoughts?

They are both very nice. Is the front garden on B an enclosed front garden then? It looks like it is.

SomebodyNew · 26/05/2011 19:46

Both look nice but house A does seem to have extra reception rooms that could be used as potential bedrooms if needed? Would go with gut feel. If house a wasn't on the market would you be happy with house b and vice versa?

WriterofDreams · 26/05/2011 19:46

Lord almighty lady, that's some house!!

Hullygully · 26/05/2011 19:46

second

stoppinchingthedummy · 26/05/2011 19:47

Ladyof the cuntrymanor....WOW!

mistressploppy · 26/05/2011 19:47

Crap, I thought of something else, sorry to drip feed;

Occupants of House B want to downsize and do a swap with us, meaning we'd save £££s of estate agent fees etc

Buy the fucking thing. Please.

mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 19:47

House A, or whichever one has the basement. They are the handiest things ever.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 19:48

Oh House B defo.

That's my choice and I'm sticking to it.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 19:48

Mathan, for what? Kidnapping people?

SomebodyNew · 26/05/2011 19:48

Oh yes, and more importantly what's the story about still being in your work dress for giving birth? Sounds dramatic :)

mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 19:48

Though the houseswap sounds very tempting...

sharbie · 26/05/2011 19:48

ooo i like b and you are just up the road from me Smile

thisisyesterday · 26/05/2011 19:49

basements are fab

you could make one bit of it into a nice soundproof playroom

mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 19:49
whomovedmychocolate · 26/05/2011 19:51

B - definitely.

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 19:52

"...you could make one bit of it into a nice soundproof playroom..."

For putting your kidnapped victims.

magicmelons · 26/05/2011 19:53

House B its i feel you pain Grin they are both lovely but as someone who bought a 4 bed last year with no intention to have a bigger family and now pregnant again and considering moving again for more space i'd go for the 5 bed Although house A will look magnificent with a Christmas tree Confused

mistressploppy · 26/05/2011 19:53

Bollocks, forgot to say House A has basement, done up as study but only just high enough ceiling for DH to stand up

Both have the same number of reception rooms

House B has utility and walk-in larder. Also back stairs (originally for access to servant's room Shock) now self contained bit for lodger (he has bedroom 4, uses bedroom 5 as kitchen and has own bathroom)

Hullygully · 26/05/2011 19:53

what does dh want?

Bet it's the second and you want to stay put?

SomebodyNew · 26/05/2011 19:53

If the only thing between the two was money then I would say go for b because of the swap deal. But, if it actually comes down to which you're more emotionally into then I would guess a? Which does your husband like?

LadyOfTheCuntryManor · 26/05/2011 19:54

When you say walk in larder, do you mean a larder or a pantry?

mistressploppy · 26/05/2011 19:54

Sharbie - really??????!

OP posts:
mistressploppy · 26/05/2011 19:55

Lady - What's the difference?

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 26/05/2011 19:56

Does the lodger come with the house?
