to feel quite put out that DD has earned 64 commendation slips, yes 64!, and a HT commendation but still only merits a SILVER award from her school?

whats this, bragging by stealth? LOL!

they must have pre-set levels at which it would be gold, but silver is great too!

pointydog · 26/05/2011 16:43

It's clear that the school has gone Commendation Crazy, orm.

GypsyMoth · 26/05/2011 16:43

maybe you need 100 for gold??

Ormirian · 26/05/2011 16:44

It is boasting by stealth indeed! Actually forget the stealth Grin

But really.... how many do you have to get to be worthy of gold. I mean, really. Look.....she is the only one of my DC who gets such things. I am allowed to be a bit precious about it.

I bet she needed 65.

It's the first taste of that bitterness when you do GCSEs/Alevels and miss out on the next grade by one mesely mark!

cubscout · 26/05/2011 16:46

Of course you are. Well done your dd!

Deaddei · 26/05/2011 16:46

How old is she?
I know in yr 7 ds had to get 100 merits for the top award (which he got by February) [smug mother face]

Ormirian · 26/05/2011 16:47

65? Tsk!

DH rang to tell me that she had 64 and that she had got a silver award. I said 'Silver? Why not gold?'. He said he hadn't thought about it like that Grin

Ormirian · 26/05/2011 16:47

She's 12.

dont get me started, my daughter lovely well behaved etc gets silver but the little shit that throws chairs and swears gets gold. apparently when i ask the teacher about it its about relative behaviour. so basically she because she is good is held to a higher standard but he who is naughty most of the time but is good once in a while get a gold because he is good once in a while. oh yeah thats good discipline.

Wordwork · 26/05/2011 16:48

It's hyperinflation. Someone's been doling them out like sweeties.

EduStudent · 26/05/2011 16:50

I once got 25 merits for a single piece of work [smuggy smug]

Ormirian · 26/05/2011 16:50

Hyperinflation! Oh nooo.... does that mean she'll have to be carrying then around in a wheelbarrow soon?

Ormirian · 26/05/2011 16:51

We don't have any little shits in our school canny. Oh no. Or at least I refuse to beleive that we do.... la la la!

MumblingRagDoll · 26/05/2011 16:52

You sound like my parents....YOU think she deserves more...but she will see it as she didn't do well enough to please you.

TheHumanCatapult · 26/05/2011 16:52

cannydoit

Ds has noticed this with all his cynical 14 years .I told him do not get any ideas .He was erm mum I be more worried what you would say if i misbehaved than wwhat any gold award is worth

Ormirian · 26/05/2011 16:55

At primary school DD once got something like 99% attendance (she only missed one half session in the whole school year.) However, on the report her mark for Attendance was "Good" rather than "Excellent" Hmm
