Yup, it cuts costs. Yup, it's good for the environment. The objective was to switch of 50% of the street lights permanently.

I live in a cul de sac that is a popular cut through from the local Tesco Express, Recreation Centre and Pub. It is now pitch black.

The council indicated that lights at the end of roads would be maintained. This made sense. But I have nothing in the street, Nada. Neither do the others. Totally pitch black. Yet the small high street is a glow, blinginging away happily.

AIBU to want a street light on at each end of my road, has anyone else been plunged into darkness?

We used to live in a village where there has never been/will never be streetlights.

Where we are now is a huge hill that goes from one end of town up to another. Rather than reduce lighting, what have the council done ? You guessed it, turned all lights off on that hill.

Wouldn't be so bad except it is a residential area, and there are 2 schools halfway up, and 2 at the top.

if 2 are supposed to be on then ring the council... it could be a mistake

Buy a torch.

There are no street lights at all where I live, and we have the pleasure of seeing the stars on clear nights. I wouldn't swap.

thisisyesterday; they indicated this in the crime prevention waffle, but reading the small print this is only in "designated areas" - ie bigger towns. Have emailed them but don't hold much hope.

leonoravonwagner yy it's too expensive to switch off after a certain time, and the man hours are to expensive to actually do the lights so that certain ones come on so the have done the same. Switched off all.
