I mean she's not likely to need some change or house keys is she?

Perhaps she keeps a 'ladies pistol' in there for protection?

Can she shoot? do you think she needs to go on regular training courses to check her aim?

Philip needs a good wallop every now & then I'm sure!

It's so she can signal to a lady-in-waiting or an aide that she needs to be rescued from a boring person. She taps it or something. I heard that decades ago, I hope I haven't been tricked. Grin

she's probably got;
hankies
lippy
face powder
some breath spray (you never hear anyone say she's got bad breath when they spoke to her, so she must)
some sweets (lots of long car journeys)
at her age, I'd assume some tablets (woman over the age of 70 always seem to have tablets of some sort with them at all times, even if it's just rennies, bet she gets heartburn)
photos of her new great grandchild

Just read something similar:

she hangs it (with a hook she carries in it) on the table

if she wants rescuing, she puts it on the floor
if she wants the event to end she puts it on the table

apparently

I suppose it's also something to do with her hands to avoid the 'Prince-Philip-clasped-behind-back' isshoo.

I did think the same thing tonight - what the hell is she carrying in there when she has people to carry everything for her? It just looks a bit incongruous when no-one else carries one in the circs. Maybe Obama should demonstrate his metrosexual credentials and sport a man bag whilst he's in Paris?

i really doubt she needs tampons!

Or a mooncup, lol.

Though she might just have forgotten it's in there (as I did for the first few months of pregnancy!).

Fair enough if she wants to carry it most of the time, but answering the door in your own home, it does look a bit odd.

I supect it is just part of her complete outfit. She is froma generation where having a bag would be considered as completing the outfit properly
